Klemm's Candlelight Cafe — Restaurant in Fort Wayne

All I can say is wow! I've read many horror stories thru the pandemic about restaurants being rude to people when their children disturb others while dining. Today, my family went to Klemm's for breakfast as soon as we woke up! My 2 year old son puked shortly after we sat down and employees saw it. I was instantly brought towels for clean up. I took my son to the restroom and we returned to the booth. The waitress asked if we'd be dining in... I decided to order to-go in that moment but I asked her to come back so I could look over menu... I cleaned up the puke on the floor. Another employee came over to take our order, I asked for fresh fruit for my son because I didn't want him to eat anything heavy. He instantly brought out strawberries and my son was sooo excited! He ate strawberries and instantly fell asleep. We decided to just dine in since he was sleeping in the booth. We stayed awhile then he rolled a bit & I knew something was wrong. He puked, again. In the booth this time. How disgusting, right? Now I am embarrassed and queuing them for more towels...the reacted very quickly. Trash bag? Sure thing, brought them right back! We cleaned it all up and apologized for the disturbance but they were so understanding & kind. I am not sure if they were all employees or some owners or upper management but I greatly appreciated them not asking us to leave, move away from the center of the restaurant or anything of that nature. The people surrounding us did not flinch, like they were in their own little world and I was happy of that! My son is almost 3 and I've never had this happen before but I just "knew" something would come of this! And viola! Nothing but a full tummy & heart!...

I usually come here with my biracial friend or I order via DoorDash however today I called in for pick up and it was a horrible experience. Everyone behind the register just looked at me up and down not once asking what the name for my order was. A customer at the register just assumed I was picking up for DoorDash lmao. I was waiting at the register as Kim, the man, and younger lady just looked at me never once asked for my order or even acknowledged. A yt man came in after me and was immediately assured his order would be taken care of, meanwhile I still had not been acknowledged after standing there for over 5mins. I ordered a waffle combo and only received the waffle. I called from my phone when I realized and asked for the man who gave me my food and was put on hold and hung up on. I tried to call back and it said the service was not available. I called from my moms phone less than 2mins after calling from my phone and the same younger girl answered. She then explained that I only paid for the waffle because that’s all the older lady put in when I ordered my meal over the phone, AFTER asking how I would like my eggs, and what meat, yet still failed to deliver. My waffle was also cold after waiting for 15+ mins. As a black person I would not recommend nor will I ever be coming back here. This was my second time here and I was very disappointed. I got the garbage skillet with cheese and the cook forgot to put in the peppers and tomato. The menu says there is gravey on top but when the waitress brought it out it was on the side and she told me the cook "didnt know if I wanted it on top or not". I just found that weird. When it's in a side dish you dont actually get enough. When I got a new skillet there was only a sprinkle of cheese (I was up charged so kinda expected a fair amount). The waitress was pretty busy to the point she was gone before I could ask for ketchup. We came an hour before closing so I think the other person left already and it was a public holiday so I dont really blame her. She was super friendly the whole time. My boyfriend's omelette was pretty small and undercooked 😬 the cook forgot to put cheese on his home fries but the waitress took his drink off the bill which costed more than the cheese, so that was nice. I'm still giving this place 3 stars because I have feeling the cook was either new or having an off day. The atmosphere is nice, the ingredients are fresh, and it's super affordable. I may not intentionally come here again but I wouldn't detest if a group of friends...
