Let me preference this by saying I normally don't write bad reviews. But in this case I feel obligated to do so. My wife and I have been going to Lalos Mexican Restaurant for at least once a week for over a year. Normally having several friends sometimes as many as 12 meet us there. You would think that a business would appreciate customers like that. But sadly Lalo's young arrogant owner doesn't. Let me explain, we would normally arrive somewhere between 4:00 and 4:30 in the afternoon. The dining area and patio would be either completely empty, or nearly empty. We were always asked how many were in our party. And if it was more than the 2 of us we were informed that we would have to wait to be seated. OK, I could understand that if the place was full, or even close to full. But with no one, or virtually no one in either dining area seems ridiculous? Oh yes we were told we could sit at the bar in there ridiculously high extremely uncomfortable bar seats and wait for our party regardless of whether it was a party of 2 or 12... It simply didn't matter, in their mind the rule is the rule regardless. A friend of ours came with a handicap child and even after she explained to them that the handicapped child could not stand very long they still would not seat them until the rest of their party had arrived. Once again the place was virtually empty. After many times of being treated disrespectfully by the owner finally came the straw that broke the camel's back. It was when my wife and I arrived to an empty restaurant and was told we would have to wait until the other two in our party arrived. We said then just seat us, so they purposely put us at a two-person table. Shortly after that our friends arrived and was seated at a 4 person table. So we got up and proceeded to move to their table, at that point the young arrogant owner said we're not going to have this... My response was have what? He said he was not going to allow us to move. I said are you kidding me? After explaining to him how ridiculous his rules were, I told him I would never return to a business that didn't know how to respect their customers... Also they double charged me on my credit card so...
Read moreI should start this review by saying that this is the first bad review I’ve ever left on a restaurant. I have worked in the restaurant business my whole life as my parents also worked in the restaurant business so I grew up around the restaurant business. My family and I have been going here for well over a year, we will drive 20mins across town when we live close to many other Mexican restaurants. But not anymore. When we first started going we always had quick friendly service with great food. They created a new rule that makes absolutely no sense to any of us. They will not seat you unless your whole party is present, or if you are already seated and a friend wants to join you on a whim, they will not allow them to sit at your table, even if you have open chairs available at your table. Even if the restaurant is completely empty! We’ve given them many chances despite this ridiculous rule but tonight was our last straw. We arrived with six of our eight people, three of them are children under the age of four. With nowhere to wait, we are standing in the way with antsy children, they had the audacity to give us dirty looks when our children started getting fussy after waiting for thirty minutes (The other two in our party arrived ten minutes after we got there) we waited another fifteen minutes very confused because they had tables they could have added together for us. We asked why we weren’t being seated and he said rudely that they were waiting for a table to open.. many tables were open!! When asked what the logic was behind their rule they said read the sign; The sign reads “you will not be seated unless your whole party is present NO EXCEPTIONS” but when I asked what the reasoning was they didn’t have an answer “it’s just the rule”. We left after waiting thirty minutes with hungry kids. We went to cebollas. Sadly this rule is making them lose business and I hope they realize that because their...
Read moreWe've been to the Lalos in Garrett and Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne is closer for us so we decided to go to this one today. We just recently got a new small puppy (jackapoo). I entered the restaurant and left the dog in the car with my friend to ask if it would be okay to sit on the patio with the dog. The lady assured me it was okay. We sit down outside and order our food, drinks, and appetizers. While eating our appetizers, the manager proceeds to come outside and tell us we have to put our dog in the car. I told him I didn't feel comfortable doing that and what his staff member had said. He had zero apologies or remorse for our situation. He just simply said to put the dog in the car and then turned around and left. Needless to say we took our food to go because we didn't want to put my dog in the car and then they made us pay full price for food we now had to eat at home due to their miscommunication between staff. Then we get home and all food is soggy and there's about a 4in long black hair in the food. I will never be back to the Fort Wayne Lalos for sure, will maybe check out the Garrett one again as I know that's the only one that is...
