arrived and one family in front of us to order, we waited 15 min, just to have the cashier say “we will be with you in a minute!” As she grabs her purse and left, then another employee went to the register and thought I was going to get my order taken, nope! She don’t make eye contact, didn’t say anything, she walks away. Finally a guy walks up to the register and acknowledged me, can I help you? I start to order and he says hang on............does some thing behind the counter, ok, what can I get you? I ordered pulled chicken and pulled chicken sandwich. As I waited, I watched a lot of horse play behind the counter, waiting.......waiting.....then he says after about 15 min waiting for my food, sir we are out of chicken.......what else can I get you? In my head I thought (outta here!) I calmly checked with my wife, when I came back, he was taking another’s order, calmly waited for my turn, waiting........eye contact has been made! getting ready to say pork and lost the eye contact to the customer ordering, waiting patiently. Finally out of desperation said pulled pork!!! Went back to sit down, then I waited...waited....heard my name, went to get my food, with a bitten tongue, I seen there was no corn bread with our pulled chicken..... I mean pork! My wife said where’s the corn bread! .......walking back up to the counter, I ask, are you out of corn bread? He replied no “I got you”! Sat back down and the pulled pork was cold, not even warm, we ate it anyways. My wife ask me if they were bringing the bread as about 10 min went by. I walked back up to the counter and ask the same guy, you got that corn bread? He said, we are all out, as I’m looking st the corn bread in the pan on the counter back in the kitchen, he says oh yeah! We got some, then I had to wait for him to find the utensil to dish the corn bread out. The biggest frustration was that there was to much horse play and not focused on...
Read moreThe Food and service has always been stellar in my opinion, was in the Restaurant & Hospitality industry for several years and know what customer service should be like, I frequent this restaurant several times a Month if not on a weekly basis due to living and working nearby, on the most recent visit, I had dinner with my daughter, we dined in and as we were in mid-discussion of some things that she was going thru as of late and had been a little emotional at the table, one of the employees whom was cleaning the floor and tables near us noticed my daughter and happened to ask us if we were doing okay and if we needed anything. We both said we were fine and doing ok, however after apologizing for intervening into our conversation.....she felt the need to convey to my daughter that whatever it was that was making her upset would be okay and hopefully work itself out. She even brought a complimentary dessert to the table to try and cheer my daughter up which I thought was a very very kind and selfless act upon itself. She again apologized and offered a sincere smile and hug to my daughter and I must say that in this day and age especially with what has been going on in the past year....she went above and beyond with customer service and we felt a genuine sense of caring and empathy to a complete stranger. And again, with people being paranoid with the pandemic and being more concerned with themselves, this young lady reached out in a way that touched the both of us and that is a rarity these days. Her name is Zuri Jackson and she exemplifies what customer service is and in my opinion is an asset to any business. The staff is always friendly when I go and helpful when needed, the food again is outstanding but the true testament to their success is their staff and how they are trained. I would hire a hundred people like Zuri. Kudos to Management and Ownership! We love Mission BBQ and it's...
Read more3/13/20 - Today was my first visit to Mission BBQ. My girlfriend and I came here for lunch, I saw the pastrami black plate special which looked too good not to try in addition to some turkey and brisket with their baked potato casserole. My Girlfriend had a pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and cheese. Everything was amazing, the staff were incredibly helpful and nice, the restaurant was inviting and clean from the moment I got out of my car. One of the most visible things during my visit was how attentive the staff was to wiping the tables and other commonly touched surfaces with disinfectant regularly. A large tub with assorted sodas and ice greeted us as we walked up to place our order. As is common when going somewhere new we stumbled our way through the order and then found a table. The extras for drinks including lids were held in a tool box which fit in well with the decor. Overall I had a good experience and will add this to my quick lunch choices for weekday lunches. The pastrami was super thick cut and flavorful, the turkey was moist, the brisket I ordered wet and it was great. The baked potato casserole was creamy and cheesy and the mac and cheese was melty and gooey. Their sauce selection was amazing, I'm not typically a huge fan of bbq but this place has changed my mind a bit. Their Texas sauce has a nice zest with mild amount of smoke, the old bay sauce would be great on fries or some fish, the smoky sauce was a little too smoky even for a smoke lover. I mixed some of their classic 50/50 with the Carolina vinegar and that was amazing. I highly recommend mixing the vinegar into their other sauces and...
