My husband and I visited the Aladdin Cafe on our way back from Dallas to San Antonio. Although it was a couple minutes off of the highway, it was easy to find and was easy for us to get back on the highway when we were done. The restaurant itself was modest, but clean and there were already a couple of guest there when we arrived. The only staff member in sight was a gentleman behind the counter taking a phone order and he already had someone waiting to pay their bill.
The restaurant started to fill up with guests and just as I started to groan, thinking that we had made a mistake, the magic happened. Once finished with this phone order and cashing out the waiting guest, the man came out from behind the counter. With many apologies for the wait and a genuine smile, he started taking orders in the now full restaurant. He was very welcoming, well beyond the normal waiter/waitress small talk, but did so in a way that he moved along quickly, but made sure that each customer knew that they were going be taking care of. After a very short wait he appeared from the kitchen with something for everyone. No table was made to feel unimportant or uncared about. The man was the whirl of a motion, bringing food out and engaging the customers genuine and heartfelt conversation. Meanwhile, he skillfully managed the floor with the skill of a head waiter at an expensive restaurant.
Our food was brought in stages, giving us adequate time to finish one entree before starting another. Everything we tasted was a delight to the palate, except for one small issue with the greek salad dressing, which was overpowering. However, I think that had to do with the fact my dressing container had very little dressing and much spice. An issue I'm sure would have been immediately rectified had I brought it to their attention. But after our fried cauliflower, soup, and then my mixed grill I was so full there was no way could eat a salad anyway. We finished our meal with the crowning jewel of any Mediterranean meal which is tea. The tea was phenomenal and infused with mint. If you have never tried it, you must.
In conclusion, if you've never been to Aladdin Cafe, you must try it. Not only is this a fine example of Mediterranean cuisine, the customer service is better than any we have experienced anywhere. As for us, Aladdin Cafe will now be our go to stop any time we are traveling to and...
Read moreJust walking into this cute cafe, I knew the food was going to be authentic, and delicious. The cafe was very clean, smelled divine, and the staff was so so friendly! When I go check out a new place, I always look at the online menu before entering, so I do not waste their time. I walk up to the ordering window to let them know it was my first time, and how does everything work (some places you order, then you sit down, others you sit and they come straight to you). The gentleman told me to take a seat anywhere my heart desired and they would take it from there.
I sat down, my table was clean, wiped down, and the floor wasn't sticky. I noticed that everyone there looked so happy to be eating! I was so excited! My server came out and gave me a lovely basket of fresh warm pita bread and their made in house Hummus. Oh my goodness, everything was so yummy! Then my food came out quickly, I ordered the Gyro Plate with rice and Hummus. It was fantastic! The meat was so flavorful and tender. The rice was cooked to perfection, and seasoned well but not over powering. The rice was so exceptionally fluffy! I finished everything to the last bite! They were so sweet and came to ask me how everything was, and if I would come back - with a huge smile I told them I would most definitely be back, and I will let all my hair clients know about this fantastic authentic cafe! My business partner told me if I love Greek/Mediterranean food to try this place out 🥰 I am so glad I did!!
I asked about how do I go about paying, and they told me someone already paid my bill for me 🤯 I was so shocked!! I gave them the cash I had on me for a tip because of how hospitable they were to me and everyone in the restaurant.
If you are thinking about coming here, don't hesitate! It is delicious, welcoming, they do take out orders as well, and dine in. Such a lovely experience. I am excited to come back! 💯💯💯 I give this place two big thumbs...
Read moreWooooweee! This place came highly recommended and even though they are only about a mile from my house, I barely had the opportunity to try it out. I’m upset it took me so long!
From the moment I set foot in to the moment I walked out the door, I have never been more happy with food or service.
I came in at 3 pm so neither lunch or dinner. Only one other couple eating and was immediately told to choose my seat and my drink order was taken along with my menu. I had seen the menu prior and had my mind already made on what I wanted.
Turkish coffee - I love Turkish coffee and this one didn’t disappoint. Thick, rich, delicious goodness! No sugar need. Hummus w/ pita bread - flavorful hummus and the hottest dang pita bread Tabouli salad - the richness of the oil, the freshness of the parsley and tomatoes, and the fresh lemon slice was just the most balanced perfection. Mixed grill (chicken, lamb, kafta kabob) - I have never hada more juicy kafta kabob. The pieces of parsley, the spices, geeez! I couldn’t get over how wonderful it was and kafta isn’t my favorite kabob. The chicken, oh my, so incredibly juice and tender and the char from the grill. Woooow!
Now aside from the food, the service was freaking outstanding. I didn’t catch names but two helped me and the were both the best. Friendly, helpful, the smiles, I’m like man, why had I not been here yet?
The portions were large and filling so I had some to go. Heating them up for dinner, ny kitchen smelled amazing.
Check this place out! Run! Goooo! I’m a sucker for good service and good food but this usually hard to find but NOT HERE!!
Can’t wait to go back because the fried cauliflower is next...
