I’ve heard a lot about Black Coffee. Although I had a predetermined opinion for reasons I will get into, I finally decided to try it and form a fully fledged opinion.
The coffee and food itself is good. Truly it’s nothing special but I believe it’s fairly priced and the atmosphere is nice. I have no complaints on the customer service.
My problems arise with business owner, Mia. I used to work at the bank where Black Coffee would conduct business and I can personally attest that she would consistently treat our staff very poorly and demean our work. Suffice to say we were all happy to see the Black Coffee account closed. The last I saw Mia was in 2023 and I don’t know her personally so really I’m unable to attest to her character; I am only providing my own experience.
This raises concerns for me on whether her own staff are being treated decently. I understand owning a business can be overwhelming and stressful; but as a leader, to treat the people you work with professionally so poorly rubs me the wrong way.
Being able to separate the company from the owner is fine, and I can understand why people love Black Coffee. I personally am very supportive of small businesses, but after my experiences I am simply unable to support...
Read moreI stopped here on my way to work this morning on the recommendation of a freind and I was not disappointed at all. A quick rundown of the location and building, it is very close to TWU, Rosedale St., and HWY 287, so fairly easy to get to. The parking lot is huge, with many spaces to accomodate any vehicle, they do not have a drive-thru, however, I enjoyed that because the interior was inviting and warm. I could see myself spending time there working on projects, meeting with clients, or just sitting down and enjoying my drink. Speaking of my drink, I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk, of all the matcha's that I have had in the area, this is one of the best. NO need to add any extra sweeteners like agave or honey, it was just right. I literally spent the next two hours trying to space out my sips so I could enjoy it as much as I can. I really wanted to get in my car and head back and get another one. Usually I make a matcha every morning before work, but after having theirs, I am going to break that habit. Don't pass up Black Coffee, you will be amazed what this local shop...

Look y'all. I've been a Black Coffee regular the entire 3 years I lived on the Eastside. It's only the second coffee shop I've ever sworn allegiance to. I have had literally HUNDREDS of cups of coffee here. I have tried coffee shops all over the Metroplex, and all over DFW. And this one is in my top 3...all. time. Out of every cup of coffee I've had...anywhere I've ever been. From Seattle, Montreal, NYC, Houston, and so many coffee shops in-between...this is one of the best lattes you will ever drink.
And if you don't come for the coffee, come for the pastries. Man that guava tart is good.
If you don't come for the food or the drinks...come for the vibes. The people at Black Coffee, L.O.V.E. the community they're in. They work in, for, with, as part of, around the Eastside. They are doing everything that you would ever hope a community business could possibly be doing, and doing it so well.
Pic from one of my very first visits to Black Coffee when I was searching for any happiness to get me through the end of...
