My wife and I were in the Fort Worth area for a doctor appointment recently. When we finished, we decided to find some place to eat on our way back to our hotel in Benbrook, Texas.

Since we were in downtown Fort Worth, we didn’t want to fight the lines so my wife began to look at Tex Mex restaurants in the Benbrook area. The search brought up several, but we decided on a new place called Don Malquias.

As we walked in we were greeted by a very happy man that told us to sit where we wanted. We chose a booth in a corner. The lunch rush was over so there were only six to eight tables being served. So it was quiet and peaceful.

Our drinks, chips and salsa came to the table and we dove in. That’s about the time that Izzy, our server showed up. He was very happy, social and boisterous. He made suggestions as we spoke about everything.

My wife ended up ordering the Chicken Fajitas and ordered the Street Tacos. Turns out, those are Izzy’s favorite menu item. If you get the Street Tacos, sk for the Salsa Verde. Unless you cant handle the heat…it has a good kick! My wife loved it!

The food arrived piping hot. As we ate, Izzy checked in on us periodically, but wasn’t an intruder. There were six, yes six street tacos on my plate. There was also rice, beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. My wife’s fajitas had the same rice and beans. They were some of the very best I’ve had. The beans were creamy, with whole beans throughout and the rice was amazing. The plump, fluffy and moist kind, you know the kind where each grain was separate.

We’ve gone back a second time since then and plan on going back as often as possible, when we’re in the area.

So, when you’re in the Fort Worth area Give Don Malquias a try, you wont be disappointed. Make sure to ask to sit in Izzy’s section. Ask him to tell you the “bad water” story. He’ll laugh out loud and know exactly who sent...

We have been a couple times, but tonight was a different story on our service. Our waitress was extremely rude, and not only to us adults, but my children as well. She was very short with us. I am on my Husband went to say something she’s always with the rudest customers she’s ever seen we called to let the manager know and he just said well she’s not like that now We’ve been there a couple times and we had the sweetest waitress but tonight the waitress we had made us not want to come back. We will not be back the food also came out horrible tonight. My husband Chicken was horrible not seasoned they got upset because he asked for extra salsa she never came and Refilled my kids drinks and the bus boy ended up serving our table so we tipped the bus boy that is beyond unacceptable and something definitely needs to be done about it but from the sounds of it after calling obviously, nothing will be done about it. If I can give it, zero stars, for this...

Waitress was very sweet and attentive, but the food was not very good. We like spicy, but the salsa was so hot it was barely edible without drinking tons of water, and I actually had to request butter. My mouth was on fire that badly. I ordered the ribeye with peppers and onions, and my boyfriend ordered the chicken and shrimp dish. The steak was pink in the center, but so tough I could barely cut it with the steak knife. It had ZERO seasoning in it. It looked like they tossed a handful of onions and 2 little pieces of bell pepper in an over oiled skillet and then dumped it over the steak. The rice was actually really good, and the refried beans were average. Overall, I can say I wouldn't return to this establishment. Good service does not...

Decided to drive 40 minutes because of a recommendation on Fort Worth Foodies. It wasn't worth the drive for me. I was expecting authentic Mexican and got okay Tex-Mex, I could have gotten that closer to home. The service was great though. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but it's an okay option if you live in the area. I had the recommended Chile relleno and my lovely had the chimichanga. I also had 2 barbacoa tacos and my lovely had a tamale. Tacos were good and the green salsa was great. Chips and salsa was okay at best.

Decent service. Food was good and service was even better. The building is old and has a smell when you walk in.. it isnt a bad smell but a noticabld one. The salsa was good but had a taste that matched the smell of the building. This was my only complaint. Other than that the nachos were good and the chicken enchiladas rice and beans were tasty. Id comeback but with hopes they keep the salsa fresh. Great job with welcoming and service.
