This is a great little hometown Cafe where they seek to know your name and learn it quickly. When I go there, I'm always greeted warmly and seated quickly. My order is taken and the food arrives quickly and is always perfect! The place is decorated with reclaimed wood for the tables, and decorating the sides of the cabinets and on the walls. It's impeccably clean and smells amazing! They take suggestions well and act on them quickly, too! A few weeks ago, I suggested longer straws for the taller glasses so the straws don't fall below the surface of the customer's drinks, they listened. The next time I went in they had longer straws! The Benbrook Cafe has everything I could ever ask for in a cafe... the burgers are awesome, as are the chicken-fried chicken and steaks. The meatloaf is like my Mother's and takes me back in time. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are happy to accommodate you if you want breakfast for dinner, or lunch or dinner for breakfast - all with a smile! If you like traditional breakfasts, this is definitely for you! This is my weekend Go-To place, whether it's just me, me plus-one, or with a larger group of friends. They can accommodate nearly every size group I've ever brought in and are very quick to assemble tables that meet your group's needs! My eggs are always perfect and the omelets are second to NONE! My request for gravy on TOP of my chicken fried chicken is respected, and even I have days that I just "want what I want", they do their best to accommodate... also with a smile 😃! For desserts, they offer a rotating selection of decadent treats that rival any 5-star hotel I've ever stayed in! The desserts look amazing and taste like Heaven - right here on Earth!!! I place my orders early for holidays and my guests always rave about the deserts... So, if you want food that makes you happy at an affordable price, with people who genuinely appreciate your business and treat you well, and a place that's easy to get to and makes you WANT to return - then the Benbrook Cafe is your place! Come early, bring your friends, and...

After passing Benbrook Cafe numerous times and seeing the parking lot always full, we decided to stop in for breakfast. The location, next door to a gas station, is a hole in the wall and part of an older strip mall set up. It’s definitely nothing fancy.
We were allowed to seat ourselves and our waitress did a wonderful job of keeping our coffee hot and full. I ordered the Two Egg breakfast which included grits and wheat toast. I also added an order of shredded hash browns, because it’s not breakfast if there’s no potatoes! My husband ordered the Bacon or Sausage breakfast with Sausage and added an order of hash browns to his order as well. The food arrived hot, but both of our eggs were undercooked to our specifications and the wheat toast wasn’t very palatable - even with the addition of whipped butter. The grits were delicious, but the hash browns weren’t crispy even though the outside was browned.
Pros: They offer senior citizens discounts, breakfast discounts from 6:00 - 11:00 am and daily specials. The service was wonderful and they offer pies in a cooler by the register if you’re looking for dessert.
Cons: The food just didn’t measure up. Breakfast staples like eggs and hash browns were undercooked. The inside decor was tired, the floors were messy and the supplies were disorganized. The ceiling tiles were discolored and drooping from the ceiling. We felt like there was a lot of room for improvement as far as sanitation, cleanliness and organization. Sadly, we have no plans to return and it’s not a restaurant that...
Read moreWhen we visited, there were enough flies to consider it an infestation. Not the normal "it's spring in Texas, so we have some flies" amount. There were also fly strips hanging around covered in dead flies, which should have at least been changed out for fresh ones. The guy prepping the orders at the window was dipping sniff, and kept using his spare hand to pick up and spit in his spitter, while handling people's food (seemingly, he touches every order going through that window). The meat from the chicken fried steak tasted very distinctly like it had sat out at room temp before cooking. Very iron tasting and tough. I was not able to eat it. The tea tasted like whatever they prepared it in was improperly washed. The longer I sat in there and looked around, the worse it got. We were told that we needed to pay while we were still eating, because they were "changing shifts", and then our waitress continued waiting on new guests. It's dingy and gross, and it's pretty clear that their recent renovations were just a thick coat of paint over the old stuff, and some new vinyl floors. Hard pass on returning or recommending this place to anyone I don't hate. I will continue to drive the extra 5 minutes and pay the extra $2 to get to West Side Cafe, and...
