Reading the reviews from here, left me baffled. Then we often wonder why local businesses don't make it. I read someone referred to their menudo as "tasting like dirty water." Um, Why do you know what dirty water taste like is the real question? the second being, "Are your tastebuds qualified to give reviews considering their exposure to non traditional elements? Another one read that he was disappointed because the staff didn't inform him what their burrito contained inside....Did they hand you a menu by chance? I'm almost certain it gave that information in there or are you an adult not 100% in control of your own life? There were many more "reviews" but these stood out the most to be nominated "Most Ridiculous". Please let's leave real reviews. Not exaggeration, not interpretation. Actual factual reviews. Intellectual, common sense reviews. If your waiting and there's tables open obviously the issues staff patience goes a long way. The main focus is the food. Yes, atmosphere is part of it but it shouldn't be the kill switch to a whole local business. And FYI cocktail drinks are meant for you not to taste the alcohol in it. Otherwise just take a shot why you wasting other ingredients! Many prefer the buzz and not the burn though and just because your one drink away from an AA meeting doesn't make your review valid in fact it's not. Your review of not tasting alcohol in the cocktail actually proved it was a great cocktail because it served its purpose. I'm not in any way associated with this restaurant or any one employed there. My pet peev is reading reviews that have nothing to do with the main focus or are based on the person's temperament or high tolerance. Their votes on burn trying to convince friends and family to follow suit. I'm not okay with that. Lively...
Read moreLa Dona Apr. 6, 2021 12415 S. Frontage Rd. Yuma/Foothills, Az. There is a new Mexican Restaurant opened in the Yuma/Foothills. My wife and I decided to give it a try as we have seen a lot of cars around it. The place looks nice and clean. When we first came in it seen like it took a longtime to be seated. You would think someone would have said “have a seat anywhere”. I notice when we got to our table service was terribly slow. My wife ordered a beef burrito with rice and beans, I ordered a Chile Relleno also with rice and beans. What a surprise when we got our food. We got the beef burrito with no rice and beans just a little lettuce, I am not sure what I got. I did get an exceedingly small portion of rice and beans. I did not get a chile relleno it looked more a chicken enchilada or wrap. It took some time to get the waitress back to our table, she offered to get us another meal, but we told her no as it would take too long and at this point, we just wanted to get out of there. We have a lot of Mexican Restaurants in the Yuma area, just about every corner. Everyone we have been in bring your plate to the table with a heating pad and a warning “do not touch the plate its HOT.” They do not do that here as the plate is cold and your food is warm. When we paid our bill the waitress even said come back again, it will be better next time. Right now, I do not know if I want to find...
Read moreMy family and I were VERY excited to see this place open up... Especially considering we JUST moved down the street, within walking distance!!!(Alas, no margaritas yet!)
I get the impression the restaurant industry is a new one for everyone working here, as there seemed to be no direction... As nice as everyone was! (Biggest selling point was the waiter! He was very nice!) Food was mediocre at BEST! Carne asada was basically a dry, flavorless, flank steak, rice was slightly colored sticky white rice, beans were dry, lumpy, no flavor, salsa(that they serve with chips when you arrive) was completely watery... No chunks to be found!!
We got the bill and was given a pen that didn't write, were ignored by everyone (to be fair, there were a lot of people at this point)... Ended up crossing the employee threshold to walk behind the lady checking people in, at the register, to obtain another pen, from their stash, to sign the bill with.
We'll give them a month or two and try then again, only because we're hoping to have some margaritas and be able...
