Up-update slow changes, but it's tasty, friendly and they actually open when they say they do, something that not all bakeries in this neighborhood do. Update: it's been sold and there's been a fair amount of staff turnover but the offerings, service, and pricing are largely unchanged. It's pretty good stuff. Great place run by longtime local who's originally from Switzerland. He used to have pictures of the Matterhorn in there, I forget whether he still got them or not. His team seems to have low turnover as well. Lots of lovely fresh Swiss style baked goods, and also makes delicious empanadas (shout out to the staff, who I think speak more Spanish than he does) and occasionally sandwiches for lunch. It is super ultra fresh made that morning and delicious -- the kind of place where you go in there and there are huge sacks of flour in the back, people bustling around making big batches of rolls and other tasty things. The only reason he doesn't get 5 stars is he is sufficiently Swiss that he charges full price for his work. But man, is it good. I believe most of what they do is supply high-end hotels and restaurants. Always a treat to eat there. I just wish my budget let me eat there more frequently. Did I mention that it's...
Read moreThis place is under relatively new ownership (same group that owns Clark’s Oyster Bar and Las Montanyas in town, I believe). When you used to walk in here under the previous two owners, the place was alive with employees making so many great things and moving fast. I came here this second morning only because I had to - I hadn’t had any breakfast and I dropped my car off nearby. Both mornings there has been one person working out front who is not fast and the line is long and very slow moving. If they can’t fix this, I won’t be coming back unless I have to. It’s a shame because this used to be one of my (and everyone else’s) favorite places in town. Regarding the burritos, they’ve made them quite a bit smaller, through they still taste...

First, I must commend the pastries this shop delivers to Swedish Hill; they are absolutely perfect. However, this review is focused solely on our lunch experience at Louis Swiss Bakery.
I ordered the Turkey Salami sandwich, while my wife opted for a turkey sandwich. Unfortunately, both were quite bland and did not leave a good impression. It was disappointing, especially considering our high expectations.
While I'm confident that Louis Swiss Bakery has some great offerings, our lunch didn't reflect that. I'm not sure if we'll return, and I definitely won’t be ordering...
