Family owned or not, Dog N Suds is in dire need of some serious renovations to not only the location, but more importantly, the food.
The cheeseburger was very disappointing. Stale, run of the mill buns with no preparation supported a beef patty void of any seasonings or discernable flavor beyond "meat." Soggy, wilted toppings left me feeling like I was given some leftovers from a work/company BBQ rather than a long-standing american food establishment. This was accompanied by a coleslaw that was, seriously, perhaps the worst I have ever had. The ratio of mayo was way too high, and it was a bit like eating straight up mayo with (more) aged, soggy greens thrown in.
The fries were pretty gross too. Oily, bitter, and full of that fake "seasoned fries" flavor.
Being somewhat of a root beer aficionado, I was the most disappointed with the root beer - almost flat with no nuance at all. With brands like Sprecher's, you receive depth, with notes of honey and vanilla. Here, there was just the taste of harsh extracts and cloying sugar. Even your standard A&W will serve you infinitely better.
I honestly feel a little bad posting this. However, corners are clearly being cut, and attention to detail and flavor is something that, I would guess, has not been a priority here for quite some time. When the McDonald's down the street has you beat in quality, cleanliness, and flavor, it's time to reassess...

My wife and I when we stopped I had their Texas Burger my wife had the hot dogs and our server was a second generation family member of the original owners. It's a great Staple in the city of Ingleside Fox Lake. You pull up in your car roll down your window order at the Squawk Box the waiters and waitresses come on out to your car leave the tray eat your meal right there then push the tray return button and they come out and grab it. Not too many other restaurants like that still in existence. So if you're looking for good awesome chasing food Dog & Suds is best place to go if you're looking for healthy food maybe not so much but it...
Read moreThis place never disappoints! As a relic of the 1950s, the Dog N Suds Drive In is classic Americana. It is a burger and hotdog place with car-side service. There are speakers at each of the parking spots which allow you to order your food. Soon after, your server will bring your order to your car window on a tray. You need to have your window up enough that the tray can hook over the top of the glass without slipping off. Kids meals come in a cute cardboard classic car box. I believe the kids meals have a special discount on Wednesday evenings. The drive in hosts different events throughout the season like car shows and Jeep meet ups. It's always fun to drive by and see all of the classic cars lined up. There are picnic tables located along the side of the parking lot which allows for anyone walking up to also enjoy some food. Try the Coney dog and a growler...
