I just got back home from Franconia Heritage Restaurant's breakfast buffet and all I can say is there's a lot left to be desired.
Upon being seated, my son and I waited 15 minutes before a waitress finally came to take our drink order, I ordered coffee and my son ordered hot chocolate. When we first went up to the breakfast buffet I was shocked. The restaurant itself is decorated fairly nice but there area in the back corner of the restaurant where they keep their breakfast buffet looks like it belongs in a prison. The buffet tables were fairly stocked but there were a few areas that were empty and not restocked. The food itself wasn't too bad but there was a lot of room for improvement. My son got pancakes from the buffet that honestly could have been used for hockey pucks they were so hard. The toast they served was cold and rubbery and the bacon was like chewing on a rubber band in both elasticity as well as taste. The eggs, sausage, creamed beef, french toast and hash browns they offered however were all very good.
Upon our second trip to the buffet, both my son and I needed refills on our drinks. When we got back to our table from our second trip to the buffet, our old plates were gone but our drinks were still empty. My son and I continued to eat our breakfast and ultimately waited 20 minutes before our waitress Sarah finally came to our table asking if we needed more to drink. Meanwhile, during the time we waited for our drinks, I was watching our waitress. The whole time we were waiting she had only brought drinks to one table and the rest of the time she spent talking with other waitresses and going in and out of the kitchen. By the time she finally did come to our table I had already finished my breakfast but my son asked for a glass of water. I also asked her for the check at this point too. another 10 minutes went by (while I watched her go back to the counter and chat with her waitress friends again) before my son finally got his water.
When Sarah did finally bring us the check for our breakfast I noticed that she also overcharged me as well. She had charged my 8 year old son as an adult. I had about enough of this waitress at this point and went to the cashier. After pointing out the error she corrected the mistake which took about $7 off my check for our meal. The cashier never asked how our meal was as cashiers normally do, but I can guess that she could see that I wasn't very happy.
I can say I honestly will not be returning to this restaurant as this area has much better food and...
Read moreThe service was horrible and inexcusable. I took my son there for breakfast on around 10 am on a Saturday morning. We ordered standard menu items and it seems the waitress could not remember to bring everything out. My son's breakfast came first with no sign of mine. I helped him cut his pancakes and prepared his plate, and still no sign of my omelet. After approx. 15 minutes she come out with my omelet and toast but no potatoes. I reminder her and she said "my fault, I'll be right back". After waiting another approx. 10 minutes with no site of the rest of my breakfast, I had to get up and look for her. The manager offered to pay my meal but I refused, due to COVID I didn't feel it right to screw the owner, who knows the food may have been good if it was delivered.
The waitress look very old and tired, maybe the owner should consider refreshing the staff in order to supply some kind of decent service.
I don't think I'll be eating here...
Read moreDisappointing. We have been coming here for years now. Today only about 1/3 off the buffet was worth eating. Almost everything was over cooked, dry, rubbery, etc. Management came to talk about it with us and didn’t seem to accept our criticism instead they offered excuses and that other options like the William penn inn is much more expensive. Well…if that means fresher food…maybe we will go spend our hard earned money there next time….oh look. My parents just came back and let me know that everything in the pastry area is rock solid….
Also we found some dirty dishes and the manager said “sometimes the customers put them back” ok… so people might be reusing dirty dishes here?
In the end his responses to the situation were “go to the william penn inn instead” and suggesting we don’t return to his establishment.
Cool. We don’t plan on it. Had he been more open to our finding’s perhaps. But its clear he doesn’t care one...
