Absolutely horrible customer service and terrible business acumen.

During a photoshoot with clients, we broke for lunch and our clients recommended Cafe Amici. After viewing the menu on their website, placed an order for two large pies; one Cheese and one Eggplant Rollatini.

We picked up our order, and upon returning to our clients’ home, opened the box and saw that the Eggplant Rollatini pizza had ham and bacon on it. As we do NOT eat pork, we were not only quite disappointed, but surprised as we have ordered Eggplant Rollatini many times from other restaurants and have NEVER had it made with ANY meat.

My partner immediately called Cafe Amici and was told that it was our fault and we should’ve asked if the pizza had pork in it before ordering. When asked what they would do, they told us that we could order another pizza for half price! Frustrated, my partner hung up.

I called back and was immediately blown off by who I assume was the owner. I told him we would bring back the pizza and would like a refund. He said, “I already told your husband we’ll make another pie for half off!” I calmly told again him we’d lime a refund. He yelled, “Whatever! This is ridiculous! I told you I’d make another pie!” I told him we definitely didn’t feel comfortable receiving another pizza from them and want our money back. He again yelled, “You think I’m gonna do something to your food? Fine! Come get the money. You think I care about your little freakin $13 $14?” I told him this is a horrible way to speak to customers and that I’d be writing a review detailing our experience. He said he didn’t care and that it doesn’t matter. Maybe not, but we provide amazing customer to our clients and we expect the same from business we patronize. We would NEVER recommend Cafe Amici to anyone since...

Cafe Amici is a true hidden gem in Central Jersey, serving up some of the most flavorful and authentic Italian food in the area. With a simple, no-frills interior, this spot proves that great food does not need any extra embellishments—the dishes speak for themselves.

Every meal here is a delight, from their perfectly cooked pastas to their mouthwatering seafood and tender meats. The sauces are rich and well-balanced, crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that transport you straight to Italy. Generous portions and fair prices make it an easy favorite, whether you are stopping in for a quick bite or a leisurely dinner.

The service is just as impressive as the food—friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making every visit feel like dining with family. If you love great Italian cuisine, Cafe Amici is an absolute must-try. It is equally as good as nearby Piazza Orsillo, another fantastic Italian gem in Somerset, making this area a true haven for lovers of classic, well-prepared Italian fare.

If you have not been here yet, you are truly missing out on one of Central Jersey’s best-kept secrets....

They fired the little Mexican guy that was the cook and made the pizzas. They replaced him with a couple of guys that really don't know what they're doing. The pizzas now have no sauce really with a paper thin layer of cheese the crust is no good and usually overcooked and burned on the bottom. They should have never got rid of the little Mexican guy that made the pizzas it went downhill

See the story has changed now, you're saying now that he moved to New York but when I was standing in your store and asked you what happened to him you told me to my face he had a drinking problem and that you let him go to fix that, he was always more than welcome to come back, so which story is it, the one you told me in the store to my face, or the one you're saying online here?

Regardless of whatever it is in my opinion your...

Cafe Amici is your typical small corner pizzeria. The walls were adorned with various sports posters, mainly baseball, pictures and maps of Italy, a Godfather movie poster and several local sports team plaques. There was an impressive selection at the counter which is usually a good sign. The slices are large and definitley filling. The plain had a tasty, fluffy crust, but the sauce to cheese ratio was off. Too much cheese, not enough of the red stuff. The BBQ chicken was either overcooked or lacking flavor. I would like to try some of the other specialties, but in the meantime, I can say the pizza I had was just average.

Tastes great, but this is NOT Chicago style deep dish. I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. Moved to Jersey from Illinois, six months in and my deep dish cravings are stronger than ever. This place had good reviews and supposedly had an "authentic" Chicago style deep dish. Alas, it was too good to be true. The sauce is just dollops on top, and the crust is way different than anything you'll see in Chicago. It tastes good (and I would maybe visit again for other things on the menu) but alas, for this Chicagoland native it was a big let down.

As I've said before, the work ethic in NJ is horrible. I made a big one order from this pizzeria, and one part of the order I wanted two slices of pepperoni but without cheese. They called me and said that it was impossible to do this. Really, you can't make a fresh pie and carve out 2 slice spaces and put no cheese? Get the hell out of here. She said how about no cheese on the meat all Parm sandwich I ordered. NO! Why would you even suggest this? I really hope this place closes down. What a friggin joke!
