KBG Korean BBQ & Grill - Somerset — Restaurant in Franklin Township

On Sunday, following church service, my family and friends walked into KBG Korean BBQ & Grill for the very first time. It's great how close it is to the Rutgers campus (in the next town over the border in Somerset) but ever so slightly far, so that street parking is easier to find. The host was very welcoming and spoke with us with a smile. The menu is broad, with traditional Korean offerings and other Korean-American fusion offerings. Whenever I eat at Korean restaurants, I always order kimchi jjigae -- sometimes it's too diluted, sometimes it's too sweet, sometimes the stock and kimchi aren't as fermented as I'd like. I ordered the kimchi jjigae here, and I was pleasantly surprised -- it was one of the better ones I've had in the Edison/New Brunswick area. The kimchi and stock were EXTRA funky, the stock was not diluted but had a nice consistency, the pork belly portions were thick and tender, and the serving size was significant. The order came with a bowl of rice and a choice of two (2) sides, and I chose bean sprouts and pickled carrots. The best part about the eating experience was that after we finished eating, we spent some time chatting with the owner, Joseph Lee. We learned that he is a fellow brother in Jesus Christ with a heart for the kingdom ministry. Even if I didn't know that he was a Christian, he certainly let the fruits of the Spirit show in the way he greeted and served his customers. Please support this place. Not many Korean places in Somerset so this is a nice place to have around. And I enjoy their bowls and the portions are decent. Definitely would be nice if they gave more meat and less rice. But that aside the issue is the lack of communication between the kitchen and front. Out of the 3 times I have ordered, twice I got the dumplings. I will watch the cook start pan frying and put them on the counter, but then the front doesn't realize that so your food just sits there. And obviously you don't know if that's your food or not so you just stand there. It would be pretty frustrating if you come here on your lunch hour and spend around 5-10 minutes standing there waiting for your food even though it's ready and getting cold on...
