This is a newly opened, family run, Turkish restaurant; the owners are very attentive and friendly.
It has a rich menu. In addition to typical hot-cold appetizers (like hummus, babagaunush, eggplant salad, sigara boregi) and kebaps, they also serve additional dishes like manti (Turkish ravioli), stuffed cabbage , okra, and so forth.
My first experience in this restaurant was two weeks ago, together with an old friend who actually have recommended the place, and was a very positive one; so today, I wanted to take my wife there as well.
As appetizers, we ordered stuffed grape leaves, which is not typically served in too many restaurants, and eggplant salad; both were delicious. We also ordered Namli salad which I highly recommend.
As main course, my wife ordered Iskender Kebap (gyro with yogurt and tomato sauce) and I ordered combination of lamb shish kebap and Adana Kebap; both were very good but I liked my wife's Iskender Kebap more.
No lunch or dinner is complete for me without having desert. Baklava is well known, but if you like Turkish deserts, I highly recommend Kunefe (has cheese in it) which is prepared on the premise and served hot; you won't regret it.
Finally we both had Turkish coffee which helps digestion.
We are of Turkish origin and are very picky in the restaurants we eat. I can easily say that Namli is one of the best Turkish restaurants we have visited in NJ and NY area, and it was certainly worth the 45 minutes drive we had. We both look forward to our next...
Read moreI went to Namli because it was recommended by one of my friends who had gone there prior. I loved that there was plenty of parking in the back around lunchtime because I used to go to rutgers and know how hard it is to find parking in new brunswick. we started with the mixed cold app platter (not pictured) with came with four cold appetizers (we got baba ghanoush, eggplant with sauce, ezme and tzaziki sauce) and fresh pita bread. as someone who had been to greece, it had such a similiar feel to greek food, very fresh and not too overpowering in flavor (which is hard to come by in the US-its very easy to tell the difference!) my friend and i also split the lamb kebab with yogurt (which came out shortly after) and wow. the lamb was perfectly tender and the yogurt was a perfect cooling effect. i was a little hesitant to order lamb because its expensive but it was worth it! not only that, but all of our dishes were so beautifully presented and came out quick--i had a good handful of people reach out to me on instagram asking where i was!
we finished with the turkish tea (we had ordered the turkish coffee but didn't mind the mixup since we were enjoying ourselves) and it came in the cutest cups. it was $36 for each of us (including tax and tip), but so worth it. the owner was also very bubbly and super friendly! i will def be coming back again the next time im in new brunswick! probably one of the best greek restaurants...

The menu had variety but seemed a bit pricey . The Namli salad along with chicken mixed grill was highly recommended by the owner . .
Norma was our sever who brought the warm house pita bread with the sun dried tomato in olive oil dip . We plunged into it immediately and the dip made it irresistible.
A large portion of tomato salad with fresh and dried herbs was served first . It offered a fresh mouthfeel and a rather acidic start to our lunch.
The mixed grill did take a bit longer given the variety of kebabs . The plate was loaded with the Adana kabab , Chicken chops and Chicken Shish kebab with a little side salad seasoned Bulgar and flavored Pita bread.
The kebabs were the star of the plate. Soft , Juicy , delicately seasoned yet had pronounced medley of flavors.
I was excited about the Turkish coffee but it didn't love up to my expectations. The coffee grains had seeped into the coffee and it was too sweet.
Namli is still a great find and authentic...
