So my fiance and I went to Fred's in Franklin, VA Friday morning for breakfast and we seated ourselves as they stated and after waiting a while for someone to come our waitress finally bought us menus. We decided what we wanted and waited again for our waitress to come and take our orders. Well she never did so another young lady came to take our order as well as asked us what would we like to drink. We placed our order and from there we waited 30 minutes. At this time there was a family that walked in and sat right behind us and our waitress (the one that bought us the menus) went straight to them and greeted them nicely and told one of them "I've got your oatmeal ready for you already", and as she proceeded to go towards the back she hollered out at them as if they were all home saying "what do y'all want to drink; soda, water or wine? (like they at the house; so unprofessional) "At this point we were wondering well what are we, chopped liver. So we call the young lady towards us who took our order and we said can we pay for our drinks and leave it's been past 30 minutes now and it looks like we're not going to get our food. And she said I know and I'm sorry. It didn't take a blind man to figure out what was going on with our "supposed to be waitress" ; she didn't want to serve our kind and she made that very clear. By the way I didn't get her name but she was a heavy weight caucasian woman with dark short hair. First and last time there; that's for sure; you can believe that! And we'll be sure to tell everybody about this experience that we come in contact with....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally disappointed in the quality of food and service. I was given old disgusting food that I believe has given me salmonella which I reported to the health department. There was a drain fly infestation which is easy to get rid of so it shows that the bar or restaurant isnāt kept clean. The waitress was a little rude and inattentive. She didnāt even acknowledge us. A simple glance and Iāll be with you in a minute or how is everything was all you have to do. Iāve worked in the food industry for over 10 years which is the only reason I left a tip otherwise I donāt see her making very much besides from her regulars. I also never received an itemized receipt which seems a little shady to me. The prices were decent and I like supporting local businesses especially ones with history. Iād recommend a manager on the floor, a new POS, food safety training, training on cleanliness and customer service training. I donāt think I saw the waitress clean one table after she cleared it. My table personally had crumbs all over it and the seat. I also didnāt see the bar wiped down as well. Your employees represent your establishment and should be receiving proper training and practicing proper...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a great place if you are looking for a real small town feel with all the comfort food you need. I had the largest helping of hamburger steak with mashed potatoes smothered with gravy and grilled onions. Amazing... But then I tried the breads that came with it. I was floored. I don't eat bread much but this roll was as delicate as a French pastry like a croissant. Then I tried the next one. Disappointed that I didn't get a second of the first roll I took the bite and couldn't believe how great the taste was. Pan fried cornbread... Dude!!! It was as incredible as the first roll. I had to say something. They gave me more of them to share with my wife when I got home. We loved them. The hospitality they provide to all their people was obvious. A person from a store next door comes in to tell the waitress about one of their regulars just sitting outside in their car not looking well. He is an older man so they went and checked in on him. It was definitely a real small town charm. The building itself is breathtaking if you enjoy historical preservation of 100 plus year old builds. Thanks again for such a yummy meal and such a huge portion....
