This review is about my experience tonight and is not a reflection of the "typical" experience. Tonight my wife and I came into El Patron after an unforseen incident occurred forcing us to go out for dinner. We arived at 9pm on the nose, I am certain of this because we don't typically go to a restaurant that closes in less than an hour. Tonight there closing time was 10pm. We figured this would give us an hour, plenty of time to leave before closing. Upon entering we where greated by a obviously annoyed hostess who gestured to the employee who sat us in a very condescending manner that read "oh great so much for leaving early." We followed that employee to our seat where he left us. Shortly after he leaves I see the hostess who greated us gesture to another employee who walked in from the patio area pointing at us discreetly while rolling her eyes and doing that teenage thing girls do that says "gaaawd" with her head. At this point I turned to my wife and asked her if she was seeing what I was. She confirmed that I was not just seeing things. Upon that we decided to leaved just as the chips and salsa arrived. The guy who brought the chips to the table was the only professional and mature employee we interacted with the entire time. This experience lasted ~5 minutes because it was now 9:05pm.
I doubt we will be going back for a long while, and that sucks for us because it's the closest restaurant to our house. We often go here to have lunch or dinner. Unfortunately, this will no longer be the case. Looks like Marcos pizza next door will be...
Read moreThird time going here. Honestly I should have learned my lesson the first time. Taco Bell would have been a better choice. First time I got the chicken fajita platter. This came with 3 slivers of Chicken and 3 whole green bell peppers accompanied by 6 slivers of onion. Idk who looked at that and thought “this seems right”. 2nd time I switched it up, no way they could mess it up again right? WRONG! Reread previous sentence again. Ok, Ok, let’s give them a last chance, third time I thought how about a chicken burrito, a pretty basic dish indeed. So basic that Chipotle is a multi million dollar business making them. Wrong again buddy. I asked for 2 chicken burritos, for two people. What I got was two tortillas stuffed with just chicken on a single platter. WTH? But stick with me, that’s not the icing on the cake. My Fiancé orders a chicken fajita salad, please look at the photos I added. She found 1 piece of lettuce in this thing. Basically a can of beans and sour cream dumped into a fried tortilla bowl. The only way this place has remote success is because the people of white oak haven’t tasted food before.... if you have tasted food, or perhaps Mexican food, you would know this place is utter garbage. I would like to meet who gives them 5 stars to understand why. But the guacamole was good. I’ll give them the single star for...
Read moreMy only regret with El Patron is that I don't get to eat here more often. Despite being located in a strip mall, the ambience in El Patron is nice. I particularly enjoy a couple of the wall murals inside. The wait staff is very friendly attentive, and strives to "get it right," and succeeds. I went with my wife for my birthday dinner this past Saturday, and the place was very busy, but it was the good kind of busy that stems from well-deserved popularity. We started off with Hora Feliz drinks... a couple margaritas for me... they were perfect, really enjoyable. The food was fantastic... I had fajitas ranchos, which features FIVE kinds of meat... steak, chicken, shrimp, pork, and chorizo. All of the meat had a nice smoky wood-grilled aroma and taste. After that, the staff brought out a sombrero, stuck it on my head, presented a platter of fried ice cream, and sang Happy Hirthday. All in all, it was a great experience all around... atmosphere, staff, drinks and food were just great. I highly...
