I feel the need to share my experience at Harry's Pizzeria & Diner right over the line in Freetown for anyone else who may be thinking about going there. The woman behind the counter was actually wearing a shirt that said ANTISOCIAL in big letters across it and seemed really annoyed from the get go. I ordered 2 Steak Kebob plates advertised at $17.95 and two waters (price not listed). She hands me a credit card receipt for $47.35. I tell her that doesn’t seem right. She makes some snide remark about it being the price. I ask for an itemized receipt and she gets me one begrudgingly like I was asking her to move a mountain. Waters are $3, Kebob plates are $21. I tell her the price on the sign isn’t right. She says, “ I just work here I don’t make the prices” then immediately went to the back and told the owner that, “somebody up front has a problem”. Owner let me know that food prices are rising fast and the menu isn’t right, but they plan on fixing it. I told him, “I’m still getting it, but it needs to get fixed because it creates confusion.” I wasn’t really upset, other than the fact that this cashier had an insane attitude.
I go to leave and my wallet is missing. I asked the cashier if she had seen it. She says no. She watches me rip apart my booth. I come back to her and ask again if she has seen my wallet, she says no. I told her, “I have only been at the counter, in my booth, and in the bathroom, there’s only been 1 customer in the store since I’ve been here, I’m going to have to call the police.” At this point the owner comes out. She walks up to him and says something to him that I didn’t hear. I tell him the same thing I told her, “I have only been at the counter, in my booth, and in the bathroom, there’s only been one other customer here and I’m going to have to call the police.”
The owner then walked up to the register right where the cashier had been standing the whole time picked up my wallet from next to the register and gave it to me. He said “A lady found it.”
What must have happened was I left my wallet on the counter during the interaction about the pricing and the cashier swiped it. I have no idea if the owner was in on it, but the hope was obviously that I wouldn’t notice it was missing until I had left already and there was deniability.
Sorry for what must seem like a novel, but I feel like I needed to share and I recommend you avoid Harry’s Pizzaria and Diner...
Read more2025- Update from my below review three yrs ago. I still love the wings from here and their pizza is pretty decent now that they stopped putting the soda on it (Someone must of complained). My updated review and loss of stars is because a few times a month my husband and I order two antipasto salads. With each salad every order we ask for an extra pita. Without fail the extra pita never ever comes with the delivery. EVER! It seems like a small thing so though I debate calling to complain each time I never do. When it happens every single delivery over months/years it adds up. To add to my frustration. Under the special instructions I ask every time, “pls don’t forget the extra pita.” Tonight again no extra pitas. That’s 2 extra dollars…. AGAIN! I want to support my local business but DAMN can I get my extra pitas pls. I cant imagine there’s a pita shortage. 2022- I could complain about a few deliveries. Less then a handful. We’ve been ordering from here for ten years at least two three times a month. Nothing ever big enough to put a bad review about. They have a fantastic antipasto for a small place. Calzones are better than most. They’ve forgotten a few things over the years but nothing we can’t let slide. Everyone is friendly and trying to make the customers happy. It’s definitely gotten better over the yrs. I recommend you give it a chance even if it falls short a time or two. Well worth the food and prices in a town with a very...
Read moreHarry's is your fairly standard Greek pizza and sub shop - and while the food varies on the "Tay-stee Scale" according to what you order, it shines moreso for being the only store of its type in the immediate area than its wildly scrumptious dishes. It does however, have its relative strengths and weaknesses; Strengths: Good seafood (esp. the calamari). If you like bar style pizza, it's on the higher (i.e. 7 out of 10) side of favorable, but is none the less standard bar pizza. Some of their "specialty combos" can be a little weird... Though you have to request it separately as they're not on the menu, their scrambled egg subs are quite tasty (their willingness in general to accomodate special requests is a plus). Weaknesses: Their menu and website say they're open until 10, but they actually close at 9, and the grill is closed down at 8:30 or earlier, which is annoying. Their prices are a tad higher than average on many items, particularly given they're not all that big [on many items] to begin with. The salads aren't very good or imaginative. They can be pretty chintzy with the pizza toppings (one time I got a mushroom pizza and there was literally ONE mushroom on each slice!)
I definitely wouldn't tell anyone to stay away from Harry's (it's frequently busy, so there are people who really like them) and there are certainly worse places you could try, but consistency of quality (and sometimes service) is not exactly their...
