Freewheel Brewing Company — Restaurant in Fremont

A friend told me about this place and I'm glad he did. Great IPAs served fresh every time I've been there. Many of you have probably had lots of beers and when they tap a new keg you know it right away. Every beer I've had here had that great new batch flavor, and even if it wasn't....imagine how much better these beers would be.

They are located in an industrial area, close to the Tesla plant. Limited hours as of summer 2021, so check their website or call ahead. Last visit there a Cuban food truck was there for grub, and there are small snacks like chips available from the brewery. One great thing is that they are very dog friendly, the staff brought out water bowls for all the dogs that were there.

We usually stop after a workout on a Friday afternoon. Great beer made in the traditional German style, according to German beer laws. There is a good selection to choose from; flights of four choices give a great overview and let you find what you appreciate most. Food trucks are usually good, but not the main reason to go - it’s the beer! Jan and Priscilla, owners, are often around, and quite willing to explain their beer philosophy. Every staff member we have met has been good at talking about styles to choose from, depending on your taste. Das Brew does a lot for the community, too. Have been wanting to pay a visit to this place, and finally did today; totally worth it! Jai was managing the place, he’s da bomb! I really enjoyed their hazy IPA, the stout (super chocolaty), and the red lager. Ordered a growler of the hazy IPA and the red lager to go at the end.

The taco pop up available this evening was equally impressive. The workers barely spoke English, correlating with the food tasting out of this world. I tried the chicken, carnitas (pork), carne asada (grilled beef), and birria (shredded beef) - all of which were excellent, and the carne asada and birria stood out.
