We were hungry and this was what we found. It was 80-90% at capacity when we arrived- it was late Friday morning and the serving staff was awesome. They greeted us promptly and immediately took our drink order, then came back for our food order. We ordered a club sandwich with fries, a club wrap with onion rings and 2 colas. For some reason, the folks who came in after us, got served their food first and we waited about 45 minutes for our food. Our server acknowledged that it DID take a long time and she was hesitant to talk about it any further. So we didn't. We paid for our bill and left. There was nothing special about this place- just a typical diner with the same decor since the 70's. They didn't have special accommodations for handicapped patrons, but it wouldn't be that hard to move chairs and tables for a wheel chair. The doors were manual, unlike the automatic pads many have. The menu was typical. Food for all hours of the day and night with an average of $7-12 depending on selection. The other guests must've been regulars because they were louder than any other restaurant I've ever been in and when booths are back to back, some of us get jostled around when rather large people shift in their seats. I must admit I was a little annoyed when I couldn't hear my own conversation with my husband because of the volume of the people on either side of us. Honestly, I doubt we'll go back, even if we're in the area and hungry- I'd rather head back North down Telegraph or head deeper South into Monroe for some place else.... anywhere else. We were hoping that a "Mom & Pop" place would've been different, but it resembled Denny's on a drunk night- frozen food warmed up & an atmosphere of...
Read moreWouldn't recommend the Mexican to anyone. Ordered 2 fajita dinners and a nacho supreme.. This was on Sunday early afternoon. It took 40-45 mins for the take out. And when asked if I could get an extra salsa, the cook started complaining and the waitress had to go get one. Don't know what was going on but the food was disgusting. The bill was over 50 dollars and you would expect better than slices of American cheese for the cheese used for fajitas and on nachos. If your going to charge good money for Mexican food that you use some kind of shredded cheese? It was the worst Mexican food I ever seen. Oh forgot the fajita shells were big burrito shells cut into 4s? Taco Bell take out would be TOP SHELF Mexican food compared to this slop. Only reason there's no pictures is that we had to take back the food to get a full refund. I used to get take out years ago until the old cooks left and it went down hill. I figured well maybe it's better since they had put italian dishes and Mexican dishes on the menu... Not the case. I'm sure the breakfast may good but it's pretty hard to mess up scrambled eggs...
Read moreI enjoyed having lunch here. It was an easy access while travelling north on Telegraph Road. Getting in when travelling south calls for some caution. It is not bad at all when there is light or no traffic.
The food was very well made. I had the Gyro platter and enjoyed it immensely. The Pepsi was fresh and bubbly. The dining area is kept neat and clean the individual tables are kept up very well.
The waitress was very helpful and the kitchen staff was clearly engaged. The food was made up quickly but there was no sacrifice in quality. I especially liked the side of cucumber dressing I was provided. The Gyro was wrapped in a unique way that I remember from street vendors in New York. You can eat nearly the whole thing without have to fold down the paper or perform any special gyrations (pun intended) to get to the meat of the matter (there's another one - pun, that is).
The view is restful at the window tables of a wooded area across the highway. This is a great place to stop along this route heading into or out of Monroe. It's great for a trip just...
