First off, the expression "not everyone's cup of tea" is aptly appropriate.
The food is mediocre at best. I'll start with the positives, to which there are few.
Aside from my waitress, the remaining staff were absolutely fantastic. I will not bad mouth, or degrade a person due to their inability to handle their job. Not every wait person is meant to be a wait person.
The restaurant is very, very clean. I looked at every place dust would collect (hanging wine bottles, corners of floor) I simply saw no dust. There is a pride of ownership, I wish that would apply to their food, more on that later.
As pictured, a purse, bag hanger.
Clean restrooms.
MILITARY DISCOUNT
They serve Peet's coffee, (if you are fortunate enough to get more that one cup (refill). That goes with water as well.
Now the not so good.
The food was simply unappealing, and tasteless. The hollandaise sauce was missing the tartness (lemon), and it was extremely thick. The poached eggs were over-cooked The schwarma were all wrong. First time I have ever had a schwarma wrapped in a tortillia. The yogurt sauce is very hard to describe. And I am almost certain the beef (which should be labeled) was not spit-fired. The corn chowder was corn soup, seemed to lack the heavy cream (thickening agent) The corned beef hash was dried out. Sat in the oven too long.
The omelets are made to order, I chose a protein packed cheddar omelet. There was less that a tablespoon of cheese in the concoction. And was overcooked. Omelet making is an art.
So, in order to get an omelet. The server brings you a sheet of paper, as seen in the picture. You fill in out, along with the server's name (strange) and they drop it off and 15-20 mins later the plate is provided.
NOTE: While in line, another cook needed bacon, one of cooks, reached into the hot line with his bare hands and grabbed a handful of bacon. Needless to say, no return trip for us.
Because, if that is the sanitation practices they employ, no thank you.,
Since is was Father's day, Aroma's offered a carving station (prime rib). Which, actually wasn't present. You were required to ask for the prime rib specifically. A cost savings measure possibly. Either way, look at the picture. More fat than meat per square inch and held zero flavor.
The fruit, vegetables, pancakes, french toast, waffles are standard. We did not try the menudo.
Pricing is a tad high. For $25.95 a drink should come with the meal. But to charge $4.25 for coffee/per on top of the 25 bucks for mediocre food is a tad much.
I could see by the wait line, and the bonds shared between some servers and customers, this is a fan favorite. So maybe we caught them on an off day. I cannot believe a place with so many reviews could really need this much improvement.
Lastly,
The maitre d' (lack of a better description) runs a tight ship. For the most part, accurate on wait times, and quite personable. Ensures each server knew ahead of time the seating of new customers in their respected area.
The buffet line set up is wonky, it is not self-serve (though all you can eat), the line runs right in front of their front door.
Further, there is approximately 3-4' distance between the buffet line and the front windows of the restaurant. This could use some addressing, as ease of passage is nil, and nearly impossible to navigate if you're handi-capable. In other words, it would be best if you're using a wheel chair or crutches to find a more accomodating location.
Parking SUCKS....... THERE ISN'T ANY. There are a handful (6?) in the El Patio lot, other than that, it's...
Read moreI recently went to Restaurant Aroma in Fresno for their brunch buffet, and it was awesome. I was really craving something hearty to kick off my weekend, and this place totally delivered. The buffet had a great mix of stuff, from the usual scrambled eggs and crispy bacon to some more interesting options like huevos rancheros and Belgian waffles. I went with the corn tortilla quesadillas, but if you’re looking to try something different, their flour birria quesadilla is a must – seriously worth it.
The food was fresh and delicious, and everything looked super appetizing. I loved how the omelet station let me customize my omelet just the way I like it. The salads and sides were pretty good too, with plenty of fresh veggies and fruit to balance things out. It was nice to have both indulgent and healthier options available.
What really made the experience stand out was Cecilia, my server. She was incredibly friendly and made sure I had everything I needed without being pushy. She even gave some great recommendations from the buffet, which helped me decide what to try next time. You can tell she genuinely cares about making sure customers have a good time.
The atmosphere at Restaurant Aroma was relaxed and comfy, perfect for a laid-back brunch. The place was clean, the tables were tidy, and the buffet area was kept looking great throughout my meal. They also had a good selection of drinks, including fresh coffee and some tasty mimosas that were a nice touch.
All in all, Restaurant Aroma is a great choice if you’re looking for a solid brunch spot in Fresno. The food is good, the service is fantastic thanks to awesome people like Cecilia, and the vibe is really welcoming. I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes and enjoy another great meal there. If you’re in the area and need a reliable brunch spot, give Restaurant Aroma a try – you won’t be...
Read moreIt was my first time and I decided to try their breakfast on a Saturday morning around 9:30am. Parking was challenging because there’s not a designated parking lot just for the restaurant (typical for Tower District area). It’s directly on a main street so you either get lucky with the few store front parking spots or you have to park the block over as I did.
I was greeted right away upon arrival by a friendly host. The place was nice, clean and half full with patrons. The ambiance was warm and welcoming just like the staff. Sam, my waiter was super friendly and helpful with questions I had about the menu. I had coffee at Fulton Street Coffee (AMAZING if you haven’t been) prior so I opt for the mimosa flight for $30 and it was definitely worth it. They have a variety of different juices you can choose from to create the best mimosas and I chose watermelon, peach, pineapple and orange.
I decided on a hearty breakfast and went with their prime rib and eggs (served Fridays & Saturdays only) which also included hash brown, fruit and 2 slices of toast for $22. The prime rib was over cooked because I asked for medium rare and I got medium well. However, it was still full of flavor and the au jus sauce helped so I still ate it and didn’t complain. The hash brown was bomb.com, perfectly fried on the outside with a good solid crunch but soft on the inside. The eggs were cooked to my liking as over medium, the slice of watermelon was a nice refreshing taste between bites of greasy goodness. And although their toast was just regular toast, the whipped butter smothered on made it a delicious palate cleanser. I ate all two slices of toast and I never eat toast y’all. 😆
Even though my prime rib was not perfect, I’m still willing to return to try lunch/dinner because the service was great and overall, I had a...
