I was driving down Route 68 and looking for a good place to grab a bite to eat. I came across the Friendsville Public House. When I pulled into the parking lot I noticed that they had a deck out back that looked extremely inviting. I walked up on the new deck and with it being such a great day with clear skies and 80 degree temperatures I walked into Restaurant to check it out and also to use the restroom which was very clean. Afterward I sat down at the bar to inquire about what they had for lunch. There was a gentleman sitting about three seats away and we struck up a nice conversation. It was then that I decided that I would remain inside due to the conversation I was having with the gentleman whose name is Ken. I came to find out that he was the owner along with his wife Michelle who also works there, where they both run the operations of the business. It was time to order and I shared with Cheyenne and Michelle that I didn't want a large portion. Michelle steered me towards their classic burger which was prepared to perfection. It's easy to figure out that the service was excellent and their prices are very reasonable. This is a MUST stop for anybody traveling 68 looking a place to eat. I have traveled this route for now 30 years. Out of all the places that I have stopped over all of these years I would rank them in the top three. I look forward to stopping by again and again for many years to come. I salute Ken and Michelle two of our very fine veterans with much success in all of the added value to the community of Friendsville and to all of us Travelers that have the opportunity to...

Well, another "stellar" trip to this place. Walked in at 2:30 today, one table of 3 patrons in the the main restaurant. Asked the woman at the bar if we could sit/eat outside since it was 72 degrees and sunny and beautiful. She said sure!
We grabbed a table and that was it. Waited 15 solid minutes without ever seeing a waitress, no drinks, not even menus. Got up frustrated and walked to our car and left. Really??
You would think that in this economy, with places struggling to stay afloat, customers would be king. Guess not here. Very sad situation all around. The last straw for us. Will not return.
Previous/Earlier Review
Not sure what happened. This is our second visit. Came back because the first visit was very good. I had the Italian sub and wife had the fish and chips. Both very good.
But this time I ordered the Steak and Cheese sub and it was horrible. Not even sure what the meat was but it was just a mushy, greasy mess and the serving portion was pitiful. Lots of lettuce and peppers but not much else. Wife stuck with the fish and chips and was pleased again. But, I was very disappointed in my meal and I feel like it was a waste of $$. I would sure not recommend that sandwich.
We might try the place again after this disappointment fades a bit. Maybe Monday is a bad choice? Just serving weekend leftovers?? Looking for some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs always, when traveling by car, we try to get a bit off the beaten path, for a meal and refreshments. Yesterday, on our way back from the Washington DC - area to Chicagoland, we stopped at the Friendsville Public House, being the first guests after opening at 11 am. Nothing could possibly go wrong in a place that has Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson photos on the wall, would be my first guess. While it was only a brief stop, our sandwich, fries and lemonades were outstanding. Feeling good in this friendly and clean place, I imagine it is very popular with the local crowds. Iāll definitely make it a point to return on the next trip out East and I think I can, despite the small sampling of the offerings, highly recommend to stop by. The sandwich in the photo is a half-portion since I split it with my travel companion, still having a full day of road travel ahead. I truly wish we could have had more time exploring this place and the...
