Cleanliness - 5/5
Have never come in here to find a dirty restaurant. It seems that they get such 'lax business that the waitresses don't have anything to do BUT clean.
Service - 4/5
Once or twice that "relaxed" atmosphere gets into the guys preparing your sushi or sashimi. As a result if you're hungry, plan on getting an appetizer. But don't expect it to fill you.
Price - 3/5
Expect a hefty bill coming out of this place. The appetizer portions are a bit ridiculous for the quantity of food you're getting. There is no reason for 3 spring rolls the size of your thumb to be $5+ dollars.
Quality - 4/5
Sushi Thai in Cary is a hard place to beat (and is by far the best sushi joint in RDU). They perform well when constantly packed and under pressure and thats because they have the customers to back up that claim.
The lack of customers here at Kumo tells me this place might not be around in the years to come. To combat this by raising prices is a horrible business tactic that only burns the few customers you already have. The fish here seems a little less fresh because its sitting around, waiting to be eaten by customers that never show.
Buying flashier menus don't bring in customers. We came for food.
Focus on your prices. Reduce the staff. Focus on fresher fish. Up the quantity and think as a customer. Odd numbered spring rolls given to a couple? Throw one more on so we aren't squabbling over the 3rd spring roll we were overcharged...
Read moreI really want to love this place. Based on its location and menu it’s right up my alley. Showing up on a Saturday night at 8:15 pm to a sushi restaurant in a busy little town I expected it to be a bit more lively, however it was deserted. By the time we got our food, we were the only ones left in the restaurant.
After we sat down we were given lukewarm water, followed by very subpar sushi. We started with an appetizer Crab Rangoon’s which were very good!
Definitely not the highest quality sushi I couldn’t even finish it. I ordered a sushi deluxe entree, even simple things like the salmon or tuna nigiri I couldn’t eat because of the quality. It was also super thin and small, with rice that didn’t taste fresh. Also no soup or salad included with entree (not a dealbreaker, but something very common in other comparable sushi restaurants like Yoho in Cary) It’s been open your years, and this is my third time coming, most likely my last. Was given my bill while I was still eating my entree, and was told “there is no rush, but I’m just going to leave this here”!
Tables and floor seemed sticky, exposed drywall scrapes in the dining room, and sushi display case liked rummaged through and disorganized, right at the entry.

Read moreCame here with my wife because we had heard good things.
Sat down and the table was sticky, the booth seat was no secure and the seat tilted off as I sat.
We ordered yellowtail jalapeno and shumai for an appetizer. Wow I was blown away with how sickly it looked. I get that yellowtail is expensive but we got literal shavings of the fish served on top of huge beds of garnish greens. (Attached photo) I honestly can't understand how someone can look at that and send it out of the kitchen. Especially for something they wanted $13 for. Oh and by the way, the image they used on the menu looked NOTHING like what we got which was kind of insulting.
Additionally the shumai tasted like it was frozen, not much flavor and not much to eat for what we paid.
We tried it anyway but decided not to continue eating it and asked for it to be returned.
Hopeful that the rest of our food would be okay, I order some tuna rolls and my wife ordered seafood udon and a specialty roll.
The specialty roll looked great and tasted great but the rest was not. My tuna rolls looked hastily made and my wife's broth was flavorless and tasted like it wasade from a packet.
I think this place is fine if you stick to the specialty rolls, but...
