We stopped here unexpectedly after seeing all the good reviews and thought we would try it out. We left with one of the best experiences we have had anywhere in the Triangle area. We walked in to a really beautiful and comfortable location. Plenty of spaces inside to enjoy your beer and talk with family and friends. Something we loved was the food truck that comes on the weekends. Chicago J Hot Dogs was there today and we had some of the best hot dogs to go with our beer. Jason, the owner, is a very warm guy. We got to chat with him for a while. The beer at Oaklyn is truly, truly outstanding. We tried a few different ones and all were absolutely excellent and delicious. My favorite was Goes on Toast. A strong stout with notes of hazelnut. It was divine. One of the best parts of our experience was meeting two of the owners, Kerry and Chris. Wow they are just incredibly welcoming, kind hearted and down to earth guys. We talked for quite a while and it was a truly wonderful time. If you go and get to meet and chat with them, please do. You won't regret it. We had a blast spending time with them. Also important- They are taking serious Covid measures. We really look forward to our next visit to Oaklyn Springs. It's a...
Read moreWent to the location in downtown Varina. The atmosphere was nice, but not happy with our experience. I had a beer flight. Husband a LIT. Total was $49. Yep. You read that right. My flight was $11. When I inquired why it was so much I was told, 5 shots of top shelf liquor.
No one asked for top shelf. 2. Triple sec- while technically a liqour shouldn’t cost the same as a top shelf vodka. 3. 5 shots? In a single drink? That is all kinds of illegal and NOT how a LIT is made. 4. If you don’t know how to make a drink. Just say so. Don’t over serve someone who has to drive and then charge them $35 for a single cocktail.
When my husband went back, because I left so mad, he asked for an itemized receipt and was told he didn’t know how to do that. Then he offered $10 back. Which helps a little but doesn’t change the fact that if I hadn’t inquired we never would’ve known it had that much alcohol and my husband would’ve immediately gotten behind the wheel of his vehicle.
I MIGHT go back but it will be for beer only. You...
Read moreCool spot away from traffic. Nearby pizza and sushi for food and they typically have a food truck. Beers are why you come here though, of course, and the rotating menu is always changing. They do a great job with their fruity, west-coast, and hazy style IPA's, the sours are good too, and they have other styles if you're not into those. (I won't comment on the other styles since i'm not into other styles :). Owners are cool, the head brewer is cool, bartenders are cool, scenery is cool, tables are old oak and beautiful, and they have games, darts, big checkers...etc. ...
