Feels like a country restaurant with a bit of a modern twist. Good smoky flavor food. Award winning (literally). One of my favorite local restaurants.
Hillbilly Hash - $16: Made with smoked meatloaf, paired with crispy hash browns, infused with caramelized onions and green peppers, smothered in sausage gravy (my favorite part), topped with two golden eggs and sprinkled with cheese.
It was hearty and a medium smoky flavor. There was a large portion of meatloaf and was the dominant feature. I personally would add a couple more eggs (though that is expensive everywhere right now). The hash browns were on the crispier side, but full of flavor with the butter, green peppers, and onions.
And that sausage gravy was magnificent. I have another reason to come back. With that sausage gravy playing well with the Hillbilly Hash, it has to be amazing on the Country Fried Steak. I’ll be back.
Wet Burrito - $16.49: My friend had the wet burrito with the salsa (extra $1). Sounds like it is very popular, but my friend was not fond of the smoky flavor. He ascribes it to preference, though. Randall said that if you get the sausage version of the wet burrito, it won’t have that smoky flavor. Good to know for those whose taste buds are different. I personally want to try the Wet Burrito despite my friend.
Babble Burger - $22: Huge and sloppy burger. I personally loved it and highly recommend it if you are hungry and want something no one else has. It is very unique with the gravy and egg on it. It was almost too big to bite into for me and I have a big mouth. Keep a fork and lots of napkins handy. The burger was ordered medium, but was cooked closer to medium/well done, but it was good. I'd have to guess the burger was 9-12oz.
The complex flavors of the burger, ham, bacon, egg, gravy, and the rest was well thought out and kept in balance. It gave a worn out runner a recharge.
Fries: Great battered fries.
Millstone Meatlovers Pizza (14”) - $21: The pizza was delicious and attention was paid to detail. I worked in the pizza industry and appreciate this when I see it. Everything was organized and good quality. It was on the expensive side, but it is popular for a reason.
You can get anything on the menu any time of the day which is unique. I got the burger at 10am when most places are not selling lunch yet. That was totally awesome!
The also have Liver and Onions. Their Prime Rib Dipper Sandwich sounded good.
Service: Service was thoughtful and quick. Randall himself (the owner) took a minute to chat with me and I quickly detected he knows the industry and food. His family (immediate and extended) are engaged alongside him running the business’s operations and are super kind.
Atmosphere: The place feels like a country restaurant with a bit of a modern twist. It has recently been remodeled and looks super sharp. The artwork on the walls is colorful and well done. They have a couple of projectors running TV shows, but they were not loud when I visited.
Conclusion: This is one of my favorite places I’ve been to. Randall Scot has a great passion for what he does and I think he is under-appreciated in our city. That said, I do know he has a great clientele that back him fairly regularly and they love him.
I’ll be back for sure (Lord willing).

Read moreI went to Oskar Scots today (03/11/25) with a friend for lunch. This was our first visit. I read a couple of positive reviews, and I love to support worthwhile local, independent businesses, so I thought I'd give it a try.
From the moment we walked in to a genuinely friendly greeting, and looking at the nice decor, I felt it was a good choice. That first impression was confirmed and reinforced at every stage of our visit, from placing our orders, food delivery, eating, and bantering with our server and the chef/owner afterwards.
I ordered a build your own burger and tots. The burger came out cooked to perfection, one of the best tasting and juiciest I've ever had. The meat was fresh and locally sourced, the lettuce fresh, cold, and crisp, even the tomato was excellent considering the season. The tots were crispy and crunchy - perfect! Even the iced tea - most places I get it and have to add a sweetener to take away the bitterness. Not so here. The taste was mild, smooth, and delicious.
My friend loves fish of all kinds and knows good fish when he has it. He said his cod sandwich was one of the best he ever had.
Their menu is surprisingly extensive, their prices reasonable. Based on our first experience, we will definitely be back soon to try other offerings, including their [fresh] liver and onions.
I drove 25 miles from my home to visit this diner and trust me, it was worth every mile, and I won't hesitate to return. Our server, Stacy was a delight. She is very knowledgeable of the menu and was happy to point out some of her favorite recommendations, and why. Meeting the chef/owner was an added bonus. He is obviously very proud of his establishment and rightfully so.
Do yourself a favor and put Oskar Scots at or near the top of your "restaurants to visit" list. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Like me, you will then switch it to your "must return" list. It will be well worth your time, food dollars, and every mile you might have to drive...
Read moreI first tried this restaurant last week. I have now been there three times. Restaurant is American flavors with all day breakfast, sandwiches and BBQ. Breakfast - Super Legit. Very fast. After dropping kids off at School/daycare, my wife and I will go and have a quick breakfast before going home to work. We're usually in and out within 30 mins for breakfast. The french toast is by far my favorite option. Honestly, I'd be pretty content only doing that and it's only $4.99. I did try a breakfast wet burrito. It was huge and was scrambled eggs, chorizo and hash stuffed in a shell topped with sausage gravy and cheese. The hash outweighed any chorizo flavor which was a let down but overall was happy I had ordered it. Still my favorite is the French toast. Lunch - Just got home from our first time having lunch. We split a Philly Cheesesteak and a small order of wings. The Philly - Homemade whiz. Amazing. I was dipping my fries in it. You guys should do a cheese fries option because man that combo was good. The rest of the philly, also great. Obviously not the healthiest thing I've ever eaten but flavor was great. The wings - Also delicious. They are the battered/fried style vs what you would find at Bdubs or Wingstop. Didn't love them based on type but that is 100% preference and nothing that reflects taste or quality as they seem to be pretty good wings for that style. We did Kickin sauce on the side. It's as you'd think and is pretty spicy. Good home made sauce though. If you haven't tried Oscar Scots, you have to. IMO, very reasonably priced and you get some good quality food with healthy portions. Can't wait for...
