I was informed by a colleague that this was one of the best burger places she's eaten at in a while...so we decided to go explore. It is a little house located on the south side of the street on Old Cornelia Highway in Gainesville, and from the outside you'll see the big "Double D Burger Sign". There is ample amount of parking around (recommended to park on the back side or front, not side, as there is a drive through which can get full during lunch time). Inside is a large open room with tables (4 seat tables). It is a No frills type of place, and from the initial look, makes one wonder how good the food is. (try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised)
The prices for the food there is amazing! for the amount of food that you get, you are paying fractional money for it. I ordered a Double Hamburger with Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, bacon, ketchup and onion rings with a drink. This came out to be $8.80 My colleague ordered a single burger with Lettuce and tomato with french fries and it came out to be $6.80 The burgers are all hand pressed burgers, made fresh. They were juicy and tasty and was very tasty for the price! (in NY, something like this would have been close to $15!)
Inside, they also had some lunch specials such as hot foods - fried chicken, veggies, etc. and deserts as well (cobbler).
Other foods on the menu included a Philly Cheesesteak w/ fries and drink for only $6.99 BLT, Mushroom swiss burger, fish & Chips, steak and gravy sandwich, BBQ sandwich, plus much much more. They even have a breakfast menu available that include eggs with Sausage / bacon / chicken / steak/ ham / tenderloin!
This is definitely a go to place, as it looks family...
Read moreI can only give this restaurant 3 stars. I have always wondered what the experience and the food was like at this small town diner. I was not impressed. I only ordered a sausage and cheese biscuit. It was ok but not any better than McDonald’s sausage and cheese. In fact I think McDonald’s actually has a much better taste. I went through the drive through. From the front of the building it looks nice. You pull up to the drive through and wonder if you’re in the right spot to order. Then you look at their menu and notice how run down it is. I waited for a minute which didn’t help me wondering if I need to wait to order or pull on through to the window as they have no signs saying otherwise. It wasn’t a long wait, just long enough to make you wonder. I got to the window and got my food. The lady in drive through was nice. I still might have given them one more star but they do close at 2 pm and in my opinion I think anyone needs to be open longer hours if they are going to have a restaurant. I haven’t tried their lunch menu or anything else so I can’t rate any of that. This is my first (and probably last time) visiting Double D’S. It wasn’t a bad experience but they were nothing that made me want to come back for a...
Read moreIt gets one star just cause had to put it to post a review but I use to love this place grew up eating here but that changed when my fiance started to work here at first they treat you kind and make you feel on top then the owner Gary who also works the kitchen turns into one of those people who you dread working for he pushes you around and calls you ugly names like fat slow just nasty ugly words and the food maybe great and the people really seem nice but what do you really know about the inside of double d you won't unless you have worked in there my fiance after hour cleaning from the day he found roaches and roach poop under tables he said he had to put out killer for the bugs so I'd watch out some of those crunchy oinons really maybe a crispy friend critter and if you are looking for work I'd not work there you won't get paid like you should especially if he fires you for being fat and slow or if he thinks your not going to pick up the routine in a few days but that's an opinion and you know what they say...
