El Torito — Restaurant in Galax

The food was ok. Service was less than desired. Waitress took our drink orders. When drinks were delivered, she didn’t know who got what so yelled out drinks to our table (10 guests) we had to call out. My wife wanted a Bloody Mary made with tequila instead of vodka (vodka doesn’t agree with her) commonly called a Bloody Maria. Drink came with vodka, we stated we clearly asked for tequila. Food was now delivered in same way yelling out food & we called out. Half way through dinner the Bloody Maria was delivered. My wife tasted it and it was so spicy hot she gagged. I tasted it, now I like spicy drinks & food & I couldn’t drink it. We told the waitress & she had the “manager” come out. I explained the problem with it being too spicy. Her response was first Bloody Mary is supposed to be spicy. Plus this was the second drink they made for us. I told her the first one was wrong, manager said they don’t make Bloody Maria’s (keep in mind the only difference is tequila instead of vodka & this is a Mexican red ). I mentioned how hot it was and she said that I’m wrong, it’s supposed to be hot. The Manager was rude at our table & when I went to talk to her in private was more so. She talked down to me like an ignorant child. I am in my 60’s and have probably been to 1000’s of Mexican restaurants in my life. This was the worst service & treatment ever. Not to mention after our food arrived the waitress never came back to our table, no refills on drinks, no to-go containers. We had to get the containers ourselves, then go to the cash register to identify what we ordered & pay. Absolutely no refund on bad drinks. To add to it they automatically added a tip & never mentioned it. WE WILL...

So normally I don’t give bad reviews unless it’s really called for and tonight was that night. I called to place a takeout order and it was extremely hard to hear the young lady trying to place my order because of the music. But that’s not the issue I’m having, so the reason why I’m posting is because I also work in the food industry and customer service should always be the most important part of the call. During this call I was hung up on while I was trying to make sure that she had my order correct and also get my total. But she hung up on me so I called back to get my total and add something else to that order and was once again hung up on. This is unacceptable and I have always came to this location because the food and service has always been spectacular but for some reason this was definitely not the case tonight. So I called back and asked to speak with the manager on duty to let them know what had just occurred to me while placing my order but I’m not sure that I was actually speaking with a manager because it sounded very much like the same girl that just hung up on me so I will be calling back tomorrow for another manager and or the owner!! Maybe some new customer service training would help this young lady out . Very disappointed tonight El torito hopefully the food will be better then placing...

My boyfriend ordered a Vienna Lager, but when it came out it was a Dos Equis instead. Which is ok - accidents happen - no big deal. We told the waitress it wasn't the right beer. A few minutes later a young woman from the back came up to our table and quite rudely asked... "What's the problem?" My BF explained that it wasn't a Vienna Lager.... she told him it was, that she poured it herself. He tried to explain that he knew the difference in taste and she just wouldn't budge. So he told her he didn't want any beer at all at that point. In most restaurants - they would have tried to make the customer happy - even if they knew they were right. The could have pulled a small sample of the Vienna Lager and had him try it - just to be sure they didn't make a mistake, and to make the customer feel heard. BTY - my BF is a beer connoisseur and also has brewed his own beer for decades - so I do believe he could taste the difference between a VL and a Dos Equis. Shame on the way they treated us - and for sure we will never go back and will not give recommendations either. We found the food at this restaurant to be mediocre at best.
