I really wanted to rate this place much higher after being recommended to this place by locals. Unfortunately, the customer service is what led to this review.
This was my wife and I’s first time trying this place after she had been advised to give this place a try. When we first entered the establishment, it was open and clean with about 6-8 people on staff and one two-party group ahead of us. We pursued the menu while we waited to be greeted and offered an opportunity to order.
We finally decided on what we were going to order, but were waiting for the two-party group to be helped before us. They had been there sometime, but were eventually attended too. Once they were helped we waited to be called up. A few minutes go by and a gentleman joins in line behind us also awaiting to be greeted and helped. Another few minutes pass by and the gentleman behind us asks us plainly if the staff was just ignoring us. We just shrugged our shoulders not really knowing how to respond, so we finally make eye contact with someone working behind the counter and ask if she was ready for our order. She then responds that she was waiting on us!
Now, this may seem trivial, but as an established food service business that relies on customer service for continued business you would think at the very least to GREET your customers, ensuring that they felt welcomed in your place of business and that when they were ready you would be available to take their order!!! I mean c’mon - that’s good food service 101!!!
Anyways, we placed our order and they were able to get things going. We were offered a choice of BBQ sauces to accompany our meal, which we gladly accepted to try a few of each since this was our first time here. They packed our order, we paid, and departed.
Well...we get home and all was in order EXCEPT for the BBQ sauces that they had offered us to try with our meal. Again trivial, but as a BBQ establishment you would think to make sure the sauces you offered were actually packed in with the order. Now, if this place was wall to wall packed and busier than Times Square I would have understood a bit more - it happens. But, remember this place was empty with more employees roaming than patrons. In fact, one employee who apparently wasn’t even on break decided to plop herself down on a table to text whomever while we were still being served!
Anyways...long story short - food is decent (since we were forced to eat it lukewarm after traveling back to get the BBQ sauce), but customer service could use some...
Read moreTook an insane amount of time to get our food. Then got the order wrong. And it took them 5 minutes to figure out how to input a coupon. The second employee that the cashier called over to help just said to give us a free drink.
The portion sizes were extremely small, especially compared to Dickey’s in Texas, where we are from. The sides were only half full and extremely mediocre. My mother in law ordered the 1 meat plate with ribs and they only gave her 1 small rib. Anywhere else, you pay $11 and you get at least a quarter rack. My husband ordered the 2 meat plate with ribs and they gave him 2 small ribs. When asked what you get with the 3 meat plate, they said 3 ribs. I’m sorry, but if I’m paying almost $15 for a plate of food, I better be getting near a full rack of ribs and heaping sides. My 2 meat plate with sausage and brisket was really small in portion size as well. And the brisket was cold. As in they just defrosted it cold.
And who gets off charging $8 for a gallon of tea? We called our local Dickey’s in Plano, TX after the Dickey’s here kept insisting on charging us $8 and they said they gallon of tea is $5 after taxes. Thats some serious price gouging. This was after arguing with them that they DO in fact sell tea by the gallon. The girl, after five minutes of arguing, finally responded with “Oooh, is that what those jugs in the back are for?” 🤦🏽♀️ By the way, the tea is not sweet by southern standards at all. Y’all need to fix that if you’re going to call yalls self a Texas BBQ joint. In fact, y’all should just disassociate yourself with Texas BBQ because y’all have completely missed the mark...

Service was ok. They were doing their best to get the customers paid and orders taken efficiently. Food tasted good, but not so much again at 1 am.
Last night (Oct 8, 2020), I had some of the green beans, some of the baked beans, Cole slaw, brisket, pulled pork, and a roll. The portions were smaller than I would expect for the price. My kids had some of the baked beans, green beans, nuggets, sweet potatoe fries and pulled pork. They seem fine. (At least as of right now at 2 am) I'm thinking the brisket was either bad (but it didnt taste bad) or there was some cross contamination of raw meat on the brisket and or Cole slaw.
I'm traveling through, and I have another 8 hours on the road tomorrow (actually today) and now my day will most likely be cut short because I'm up half the night puking my guts out because of some food poisoning.
I don't recommend going here and getting the brisket or coleslaw unless you have an iron stomach or at least another day to recover...
