My experience at West End Restaurant in Galveston was nothing short of a disaster. I wish I could give this place zero stars, but unfortunately, that's not an option. Here are the main issues that ruined our dining experience:

Lack of Menus, Food, and Drinks: It's hard to imagine a restaurant that fails to provide menus, food, or drinks to its customers. Sadly, West End managed to achieve this feat. We sat down at our table, eager to explore the menu, only to realize that there were no menus in sight. After waiting for what felt like an eternity, we tried to get the attention of a server to ask for menus, but they completely ignored us. How can a restaurant operate without the basic essentials?

Rude Servers: When we finally managed to flag down a server and express our concerns about the lack of service, their response was absolutely shocking. Instead of apologizing or trying to rectify the situation, they rudely told us to go eat somewhere else if we weren't happy with the service. I couldn't believe the level of unprofessionalism and disrespect we encountered.

Inattentive Waiter: Despite the discourteous response from the server, we decided to give the restaurant another chance and asked for a waiter to take our orders. To our disbelief, the waiter seemed completely disinterested in serving us. They didn't bother taking our orders or even acknowledge our presence. It's as if we were invisible to them.

Endless Waiting: As the minutes turned into an hour and a half, we sat there, growing increasingly frustrated and hungry. Despite our attempts to get someone's attention and get some food on our table, we were left neglected and ignored. It was a baffling experience to witness a restaurant that was unable or unwilling to fulfill its fundamental purpose.

Incompetent New Guy: As if the situation couldn't get any worse, the restaurant seemed to have employed an inexperienced individual to wait on tables. This new guy, who was assigned to serve us, not only ignored our pleas for assistance but had the audacity to tell us to leave. It was clear that he had no idea how to handle the simplest tasks of his job, let alone provide any sort of customer service.

Lack of Service in All Four Sections: West End Restaurant claims to be a "4 in one" establishment, offering multiple dining options under one roof. However, it became apparent that no one was receiving service, regardless of which section they were seated in. It was a chaotic and disorganized mess, with frustrated customers left waiting endlessly for any sign of attention from the staff.

Admitting to Disaster: If the appalling service wasn't enough, one of the waiters had the audacity to inform us that the kitchen was essentially a "dumpster fire" and the entire restaurant was a disaster. It's mind-boggling that they would openly acknowledge the chaotic state of affairs instead of taking steps to rectify the situation. It was a blatant display of unprofessionalism and a complete disregard for their customers' dining experience.

And in top of that The drinks were all flat and flavorless when we actually go t the the drinks

The overall experience at West End Restaurant was an absolute nightmare. From the incompetent and dismissive staff to the lack of service in all areas of the restaurant, it was clear that this establishment was in complete disarray. Save yourself the trouble and choose a different restaurant in Galveston. West End is a sinking ship, and it's best to avoid getting caught in...

Honestly disappointed. We come every year to stay a few weeks from Austin and while the marina and bait shop are great, the restaurant is sad. We were greeted with the chef publicly berating and insulting the employees. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes for someone to ask us if we wanted drinks and after another 20 minutes, half of them showed up and we had to remind him there were 3 missing. When we got our overpriced and watered down cocktails, we were informed someone would be back to take our orders. Eventually we waved someone over to order appetizers and the waiter was irritated that we didn't want to order our meals along with the apps. The queso was okay but the chips were chewey and cold. The crawfish was cold and had no seasoning at all. The waiter kept bugging us to order our entree's so we obliged him as the apps were less than appetizing. I decided to splurge and get the seafood platter. Everyone else was finally served and I had to wait 20 more minutes until I was able to remind the waiter that my food was still missing. Almost everyone in our party was finished with their food when mine came. Cold. Soggy. ( It was supposed to be fried) Could tell it had been sitting the whole time on the pass, forgotten. I bit into an oyster and immediately knew it was not good. I was embarrassed to spit it out in front of my family who were all waiting for me to finish so we could go ( they were big on getting us out of there because the turnover was obviously more important than happy customers) , so I swallowed it. The shrimp was rubber and the fish was just one huge piece of crust with dry "fish" on the inside. Even the fries were rock hard and cold. Not a speck of salt or seasoning on ANY of our food choices. I was also scared to send it back because my family had already waited so long. I paid 30 bucks for trash. We expected fresh food, you know, because we're literally on the ocean...but what we got was a waste of 300 dollars and our planned evening. The next morning, I was so sick. I presume y'all can understand why. It was a complete bust and when I called the next day, was told nobody could help me and I should have said something the night before. The place was not clean and we had flies attacking everything and everyone. I'm sure the rotten seafood attracts them in droves. All in all it was absolutely horrible and none of us could find even a small thing to praise. All the while, the chef was busy yelling at staff and vaping , along with a few of the staff while working. Extremely unprofessional and just a terrible experience. My 5 star chef husband and our family will never go back. We'll stick to cooking our own. Sadly, do...

Horrible service! Arrived and sat ourselves since it wasn't very busy, got tended to quick for drinks and apps and after that our waitress literally didn't come back for an hour. We had to ask the nearest person for help who turned out to be the manager so he took our order. Then we were left alone for another 35-40 minutes before our original waitress actually came and had the nerve to ask us if we were STILL DOING OK????? I couldn't believe it, so she got us a couple refills and disappeared for another half hour, not even kidding. She comes back finally again and we complain about how long we've been waiting and she says the food should be out soon and then it arrives finally after 2 hours. The food is COLD or luke warm at best, so at this point we're just wanting to leave. Manager comes back and tries to say he'll take the apps and a couple entrees off the ticket.....then he says he'll just take all the food off. Ok, so we wait and wait again and decide were just gonna leave since they clearly don't care. So we get up and start to walk and THEN our waitress pays attention and grabs the manager who then asks if we're gonna at least pay for the drinks lol. I paid the for the drinks cause I honestly felt bad, but this was the WORST experience I've ever had. Somehow we were in a bubble and everyone around us seemed to getting decent service so I can't really explain it to be honest. Hope nobody else ever experiences what...

We were greeted with stares and one "it's seat yourself!" Problem was, there was not a clean table to seat ourselves to. The guy, I am assuming was owner or manager bustled over to clean a table real quick for us when he saw we were walking out. (Thanks guy!) It took forever for some girl to bring us menus. They have a menu code but you can't get cell signal to use it!! When she dropped off the menus, she didn't even ask us our drink order for another 15 minutes or so. It took a while longer for us to even receive them. We looked around and got nervous because the place was packed and not a single person had food yet. Finally, she took our order! We ordered gumbo and fried pickles to start! I wish I had taken a picture of the gumbo! It was all soup, 1 piece of shrimp and 2 pieces of sausage. That was IT! The fried pickles, were gross. Thick sweet pickles, hardly any breading and not very fried. The menu was nothing like online, which was the only reason we drove 30 minutes from Seawall Blvd to come enjoy this place. And what we did order, wasn't the best. If covid-19 is effecting things, your website and Google should reflect those changes. Limited menu, longer wait times, etc. I am extremely disappointed because I was super excited to try this place. $86 for fast food grade meals.

Awful. The workers didn’t wear gloves and they were dressed poorly. I came to Galveston for a week stay family vacation but now I’m going home. I’m definitely getting sick from the fish not being cooked all the way. I great family vacation has now turned into a waste hey hey hey not to mention the bill was $686 for 8 people. Yeah I don’t understand all I can do is warn you to now allow your family to do the same. Make the right decision and go eat at whataburger where the food is a good. There were some childish kids when I was there and they were throwing chips all over the place and seagulls were coming and eating food off of different peoples plates. It was a horrible scene. People were running all over the place screaming in fear, little kids crying, people falling down, will all of this was going on some man was able to tie a piece of fish onto his shoe lace and catch a live catfish out of the water. The catfish then proceeded on to cut the man and the ambulance had to come. Take that money and go give it to a hobo. Don’t invest in this so called restaurant.

I was on a road trip and caught a keeper red from my kayak and wanted to try it but with limited resources didn't really have a way to cook it. This was the only place I could find (I called a lot of places) that would prepare the fish that I caught. The fish has to be cleaned and processed so luckily the marina downstairs had a fillet knife and after I processed my first redfish they cooked it for me. As someone who is not a big fish eater I can say 100% without a doubt that it was the best fish I have ever eaten hands down. That blackened redfish was so good that for the first time in my life I ate fish until I was completely stuffed. I had leftovers that I could not possibly finish and it was so good that even cold the next morning I stuffed myself off of it again. Like I said I'm not a huge fish eater so me eating that much fish let alone leftover fish that was cold is really saying something.
