The beach is kept clean and there's a decent sized parking lot nearby that made it easy to get our things to the sand. It's Galveston, so the water wasn't clear but it was free of debris. The water was warm and we had a great time. We took a morning walk around 7:30 and didn't see many shells but that's probably because we weren't early risers. Unfortunately, there were a lot of tar balls on the shoreline when we were there so be sure to bring flip flops and towels that you aren't too attached to just in case.
