Me and husband had such a disappointing experience. We were searching for a small mom and pop place to enjoy our breakfast outings and thought this was it! Till Saturday morning 2/25/23 we walked in and yes there busy the young man said it’ll be just a moment, we stood and waited there was two table that were dirty but we were patient. The older lady kept running around taking taking orders and then taking food. We waited over 20 mins just standing there, know I’ll be right with you or rush to clear a table off so we can sit or nothing. We spend decent amount of money and tip very good. Always been respectful but so disappointed we really wanted that to be our weekend spot. We watched people being checked out and by time we left there was 5 tables empty but all dirty. Not a single person tried to wipe the tables so we could sit and we were the only people standing to Waite.I really hope it wasn’t because our race. I hate to think that way but it really makes me wonder. It would’ve taking 2 mins to clear a table for us to sit. But they just kept walking past us like we didn’t exist. Grandma Menka still comes in every morning to prep even though she is a young 78. She makes the soups an all dinners home made. Since 1980 Menka, Donny n Sheldon mark 40 Years slinging comfort food's. A large following of 3rd generation customers fill the place daily. Enter 1970's classic diner shiny spotless clean retro style. Starting with Grandma Chicken Noodle Soup jumbo noodles n fantastic broth spot on delicious. Order of Biscuits and Gravy with Eggs, Mega Stuffed Country Omelet smothered with Sausage Gravy absolutely fantastic. She had Chicken Filet Sandwich and Chicken topped Salad. Tried unique Polish Coney be Kielbasa topped with Detroit Chili sauce n Onions it works and the Kielbasa topped with Kraut. We loved the staff, we Loved the whole feel of the place, only a few retro diners remain in Michigan. Cash be King you bring it or leave hungry. Menka's Kitchen has been serving homemade breakfast and lunch for 45 years! (And yes, they have butter in a bowl on the table).

First, they are Cash Only. (Keeping prices low by avoiding credit card fees).

Split Pea Soup - thick and creamy, not too salty. Good stuff.

Hash Browns - homemade and cooked all the way through.

Veal Cutlet - classic oval piece of breaded, ground veal. Smothered with brown gravy.

Veal Parmesan - classic oval piece of breaded, ground veal. Served with pasta and tomato sauce. Tangy with well cooked pasta.

Tossed Salad - fresh with homemade Ranch dressing.

I know one of the reviews said they didn't have butter, but there was an entire bowl of it on each table.

Service was super attentive; my coffee never got below a half cup.
