This is one of the most important Chinese food establishments in New England if not the country, that’s just my personal opinion but I’ve hunted down a lot of good Chinese food over the years, and I’ve had many disappointments along the way, largely due to my previous high expectations and superior experience with Canton Village.
I am SO glad and proud that they did the best they could, and persevered, through Covid and that their business is still here and going strong, it is a wonderful family run restaurant with nationally famous, very good food, it is the place I come back to from California where out west nothing compares, and the quality literally brings a tear to my eye. Just ask my local mom, she brought me back there for the first time in 7 years since I left, a little while back, and halfway through the meal I heard her ask:
“Are you…. crying?” And while I won’t confirm or deny; it was a moving meal!
Excellent, consistent quality food, that stands on its own while they deal with whatever space issues they may be having in their dining area. I wish them the best in re-expanding quickly for the sake of diners who do judge them for it, but I’m so grateful they still prepare exactly the same delicious food I’m familiar with, that only a very few restaurants around the world I’ve tried elsewhere can fairly be compared to. It’s just that good, I hope they teach the younger generations to replicate their recipes and follow their meat selection and prep skills, and carry these tactics on, into the future, because they are only so rarely surpassed outside...

Haven't eaten there for dinner or on a weekend since I was a child so I can't speak for that.
Their take out is always good. Typically give yourself an extra half hour or hour especially on a holiday. The place can get crazy around holidays.
I would suggest against ordering mixed drinks. While well intentioned they are always mixed with bottom shelf liquor and the proportions are always heavy on the liquor. Stick to non alcoholic or beer.
Everyone is always polite. The place has been around for my entire life. No idea how much longer before then. In Gardiner that is quite a challenge especially in the last five to ten years alot of businesses have gone under but they're still around, it's definitely a...
Read moreWe went because it used to be buffet, but it appears it is no longer, though it still says it is on Facebook. We went on Christmas, and the place was hopping. We must have hit it just right to dine in, because they don't have many tables, and they filled right up. Food was pretty good, service was good and pretty quick, though take out was backed up by about 40 minutes. Don't know if that is a regular occurrence or just because of the holiday. I had sworn this place off years ago, due to their buffet always being lousy, but decided to try again, and this has given this place a second chance for me. I will continue to give it a...
