Flame of India — Restaurant in Gardnerville

We really hoped to like this restaurant because it’s so convenient to where we usually stay when we’re in town. Unfortunately, that didn’t turn out to be the case.

The ambience felt quite odd — it looks like the space may have once been a steakhouse, and the décor just doesn’t fit the cuisine. It’s worth noting that this is not a fancy restaurant. Drinks are served in plastic cups, food comes on plastic plates, and the tables are covered with clear plastic sheets. Each place setting includes glasses turned upside down, which adds to the unusual presentation.

On the positive side, the samosa was very good — different from what we’ve had elsewhere, but flavorful and nicely prepared. The naan was also quite good.

However, our main disappointment came with the chicken tikka masala, which we both ordered. The sauce was, unfortunately, among the worst we’ve ever had — and we enjoy Indian food often, in many places around the country.

All in all, this restaurant was a flop for us. We won’t be recommending it, and we won’t...

Really good food, the flavor was perfect and sooo good. The service was a bit off hence the 4 not 5 I order hot and it came with no spice, again super flavorful but I wanted hot like India hot and I got nothing. Also we ordered 2 different naan orders and only 1 came we had to ask for the second and it was clearly cooked in a hurry.

Also you pay at the front after eating not the table, there's only 1 small sign that says that so perhaps they should make that more obvious as its not as common to pay up front, but I prefer pay at the front.

I'll definitely be back because it's the best Indian food I've had since I was on Brick...

We are glad we found this gem! Flame of India in Gardnerville offers good quality authentic Indian cuisine. We celebrated my mother’s birthday at this restaurant and we had a good experience. We came back for their lunch buffet the next day. We love their chicken korma, goat curry, goat saag, samosa, vegetable pakora, and butter chicken. They offer good service. Mandeep, Ayugida, and Gurpal are very welcoming. The environment is clean. As for the spice level, they offer mild, medium, and spicy. This is our 6th visit as of writing, and we will be coming...
