If I could give 3 and a half stars, I would. Let me tell you about my experience. I went with my brother mid-Saturday morning. I ordered the Café au Lait , and my brother got the drip with some cream and sugar free vanilla syrup. When I left, I got an espresso to go, and a cold brew for the following day, but I did take a sip to write this review.
Positives: Lovely coffee shop, the drip coffee is excellent, the cold brew is also excellent. I love how they sell fresh coffee beans with a roasted on date. Very comfortable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They even let me sample the drip before purchasing. They had breakfast tacos from Taco Joint available, which I thought was pretty awesome. They also had a variety of baked goods.
Not-so positives: My brother was charged for adding cream to his coffee, which we weren't expecting. The espresso I had was extremely sour. I am assuming it was under extracted. maybe the tamp wasn't firm enough, but it could be a number of other factors, like grind size or coffee to water ratio, or maybe the machine just needs cleaning.
Unfortunately, the sour espresso is a big deal to me, as espresso is the main reason I go to coffee shops, and that is why the score I gave is low. Hopefully this was just a fluke, as I haven't seen that mentioned in other reviews. I am going to give the espresso another shot the next weekend, and I'll update this review if things turn out better. I really want to love this place!
UPDATE: I made it back here to give this place another go, and just as I suspected, the espresso this time was excellent, so I have changed the score to 5 stars. The barista was just as kind and friendly as last time. I really enjoyed myself, definitely my favorite coffee shop in the area, and...
Read moreLove, love, love! It makes me sad I live in Fort Worth now, so I can’t make this my regular spot. I was desperate for some coffee after a doc appointment so I could make the drive back home, and my Google Maps search showed me this gem. The only downside was the wait time for my coffee and sandwich, which was about 15-20ish minutes, because there was only one woman working to make the coffee and the food. But that may just be because someone called in or something, so it was no biggie. Everything else was AH-mazing! The barista was so friendly and called everyone “love,” which was adorable. I told her it was my first time and that I was overwhelmed with all the things I wanted to try, so she actually suggested a drink for me, gave me a sample to make sure I would like it, and truly engaged with me, rather than making me feel like “just another customer.” I ended up getting a coffee that had lavender (which I’ve never had before) and caramel together, at her suggestion, and it was magical! I was so sad when I took the last sip! The sandwich, The Haggard, was also so good! If I lived here, I would totally come back. The atmosphere was awesome too—I would totally do work or...
Read moreA much quieter and more relaxed place than the busier location in downtown Plano. The Plano location is a risk for me because sometimes I can't find anywhere to sit or just get stressed with the volume level and constant movement. At this Garland location, the music is a little lower and people chat in hushed tones so it has a very chill, calm feel. Also tons of seating and outlets! There is a side area with dining tables and a wall of floor to ceiling windows for natural light. Then the main room has that 1418 darker, cozy industrial vibe with 6 seating nooks with couches & comfy chairs & plush rugs. There are also a lot of small tables and dining tables with wooden chairs, and a long bar with stools. Loved the relaxed tone and the...
