I’ve lived around the area my entire life, and for some odd reason decided to eat breakfast at Spotlite Cafe in Garrison, Minnesota. It was the worst mistake I made all day, besides the extremely outdated interior there was extremely poor service when I and my relative made to pay the check. The cashier didn’t use her words, instead pointing one digit at us as if we were supposed to know what that meant. Once handing over the ticket the cashier looked it over and asked whose handwriting it was, as if we had done something to it. The suspicion and side eye was unwarranted if not typical for the area. We paid almost forty dollars for bland and almost tasteless food, our service was poor by our older cashier and I would have to say that the McDonald’s down the road has vastly better service and food for the cost. Even the workers at the McDonald’s show more class and maturity than our cashier today, if you’re thinking about breakfast here. It’s in your best interest to keep it moving, if I could give zero...

I stopped in for a meal after a week of volunteer work with a camp nearby, and it was really refreshing I got a bowl of beef noodle soup and a couple slices of sourdough toast while my mom and sibling shared a stack of pancakes and a couple eggs. I can't speak for the pancakes or eggs other than the two of them seemed satisfied, but my toast was great with the soup. It was cheap and the portion sizes were great. To top off the fun, I got to sit in those molded plastic and metal tube school chairs to eat. Great food, clean restaurant, friendly service, and all wrapped up with a great location right by the lake.
The ramp up to the door was much too steep for any handicap accessibility, unfortunately, so don't go here if you're in a wheelchair or otherwise unable to take a staircase, but that's the only gripe. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal in the area. As long as you don't need the...
Read moreI've driven thru Garrison hundreds of times, but never stopped to eat here or even knew this gem was here! The place was empty when we arrived. The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and came to check on us at appropriate intervals. We both had the bacon cheeseburgers and fries. Try the place out!
FYI: - the pop, you get 1 refill, for a medium size glass ($2.50), I thought that was kind of high, but the burgers were great, and I don't mind supporting a small business. Burgers/fries were $9.95 each. -ample parking out front -Beautiful view from our seats -They don't take American Express. -They have a few stairs AND a ramp, to their restaurant. -they have ice cream, but we didn't have any. -I didn't read any reviews...
