As an out of towner (Kansas City) we drove down to see the Bellamy Brothers at Bare Bones BBQ. We purchased VIP tickets which were a HUGE disappointment. As an avid concert goer I have had VIP tickets to many shows. After arriving to the establishment, a small storm sat in. I totally understood why the show was delayed. We went to the register to purchase wine and a beer. We were told that they only had two choices of red wine (which I don’t drink) because their vendor didn’t show up?? They proceeded to tell us we could go down the road to a liquor store, purchase a bottle and pay a $25 fee to bring it in. We did just that. When we arrived back (10 minutes) the doors were locked. After our friends inside told them we were back we were let back in. We were told with the VIP tickets we were served appetizers (which we never received), private bathrooms (the ones in the restaurant that everyone was using), and a private bar to purchase alcohol (beer). When we were finally let into the back where the concert was to take place, we had to find our own seats at a variety of 8” tables. We sat down and I went to order us some food. The menu was extremely limited (two sandwiches and chips). I went into the restaurant to order from the main menu and the kitchen was closed (this being about 7:30). Being a vegetarian there was NOTHING (not even a salad) that could be purchased. I had a terrible run in with a couple of the “managers” (one claiming to be the owner- I believe his name was Chad- he definitely was NOT the owner) . He told me I was “lucky” to have even gotten in because we left to get wine (after they told us where to go to purchase) because there is no re-entry rule. Also told me I could leave or he could make me leave if I didn’t had a problem with them. The main problem was the rude arrogant attitude of these two men. Wally was amazing and really went above and beyond to help in any way. The other staff was friendly and upbeat. I have never so disappointed in a venue and managers. These two men will bring that place down. Hospitality is definitely not their strong suit. What started out to be a fun night was definitely brought down by them. The concert itself was great and we enjoyed the music. On a positive note, our friends ate the brisket sandwich and it was great. I would definitely never go to an event or concert there, maybe take out would be your best bet if you want bbq? The VIP tickets were seriously a huge...
Read moreOrdered ribs and a frito pie with brisket via a delivery app. Ribs, sausage, and brisket on the pie were not bad, per se, but not great (3/5). I was hoping for better - ribs were really fatty. Mac and cheese was flavorless and seemed old / congealed, potato salad was interesting due to (what seemed like) the addition of applesauce to the potato salad's "sauce", but it has too much of it - there's a dominant cinnamon applesauce flavor to it. A little bit would have added something unique and been a benefit, but in my opinion it was too much. So overall, the food was just alright.
But the worst part: the restaurant charged almost $9 in fees on a $25 meal which for some reason wasn't reflected in the app until after I had received the food (the restaurant charged the fee - not the delivery app, which had its own fee structure). Apparently, Bare Bones adds $3.50 for using a credit card (which you have to use with a delivery app - there's no way to use cash), and charges a $5 fee for it being picked up by a delivery driver (for what? it's no extra work for the restaurant). Again, the delivery app has its own fees, so the quoted price after I had received the food (with delivery app and Bare Bones' fees) was nearly double the price of the food itself. Fortunately, the delivery app refunded the Bare Bones fees because it wasn't part of the quoted total in the app (favor customer...
Read moreFirst off, let me be clear, this is about the CONCERT VENUE. The restaurant is great. I've eaten there and loved it. HOWEVER, their concert venue out back is a different story. We went to see Ted Nugent last weekend I was not impressed. The area is relatively small (which isn't necessarily bad) and all the area up front near the stage is a roped off "VIP area". General administration starts about half way back, so there's no standing up near rhe stage. Also they never installed and benches or seats, so you have to bring your own chair, which is fine except they charge you an extra $5 at the gate if you do. The biggest complaint though is the sound system. Their sound system looks like something they borrowed from the middle-school cafeteria. Nothing cloce to what a real concert venue should have. Ted Nugent had to stop in the middle of a song at one point because the system quit entirely. When it was working it wasn't very loud and when he was talking between songs those of us in the general administration area couldn't hear half of what he was saying. It's a good idea they had to make it a music venue, and maybe in time they can fix the problems. That would be great. Until then I will think twice before spending my entertainment money on...
