As a longtime patron and supporter of The Borough since its opening, I have always admired its commitment to serving the community and have enjoyed my weekly visits. My experience today, however, left me deeply disappointed and compelled to share my story.
During a meeting with a colleague, we spent the initial 20-30 minutes discussing our project without immediately placing an order, a practice I thought wouldn't be an issue given my frequent visits. An employee, who I've seen many times, approached us to remind that orders were needed to use the space. I reassured her that we would order soon. However, within minutes, we were approached again, this time more forcefully, which led to an unpleasant exchange with a man who seemed to be the owner. Despite my attempts to explain my loyalty and imminent intention to order, he dismissed my words, questioning my honesty, and insisted we leave if we were not going to order immediately. This interaction was not only embarrassing but felt particularly pointed, as we were minorities in a predominantly white space. The establishment was far from full, making this aggressive approach feel unnecessary and unwelcoming.
This encounter has led me to question the values of The Borough, particularly regarding community support and inclusivity. Unfortunately, I can no longer support a business that fails to recognize the importance of making all guests feel welcome and valued, regardless of whether they order the moment they walk in. It's disheartening to realize that my support as a loyal customer has been overlooked in favor of a transactional relationship that lacks basic respect and understanding. I will be taking my business elsewhere and encourage my network to consider...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of visiting what can only be described as a pitiful excuse for a café. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this establishment was far beneath my refined standards.
Firstly, the ambiance was utterly lacking. The decor seemed to be a mismatched collection of thrift store rejects, and the lighting was harsh and uninviting. One would think that a café could at least get the basics of atmosphere right, but alas, this was not the case.
The menu, if you could call it that, was a disaster. It was riddled with spelling errors and offered a paltry selection of uninspired, pedestrian items. I dared to order a café miel, hoping for at least a semblance of quality, but what I received was a tepid, watery concoction that bore no resemblance to the rich, velvety drink I had envisioned.
As for the employees, it was painfully obvious that they had received no proper training. The barista seemed bewildered by the simplest of tasks, and my order was bungled not once, but twice. The staff's lack of professionalism and basic competence was truly astounding.
To make matters worse I felt as if there was hidden discrimination against me. From the way the staff seemed to treat other customers with a level of courtesy and respect that was suspiciously absent when interacting with me. This behavior only made my experience more uncomfortable.
In conclusion, this so-called “Borough” is a blight on the landscape of culinary establishments. I would strongly advise anyone with even as equal taste as mine to steer clear of this abysmal place. Save your time, money, and palate for a venue that actually understands the meaning of quality...
Read moreI witnessed a deeply unsettling incident at The Borough today, one that has profoundly changed my view of this establishment. As someone who values the spirit of community and the support of local businesses, what transpired was not only disappointing but also quite telling of the business's priorities. My peer, a frequent and loyal customer, was essentially harassed for not placing an order immediately upon sitting down, despite our intention to do so after a brief meeting discussion. This was not a matter of policy enforcement but rather an unnecessarily aggressive approach that seemed tinged with undertones of prejudice, given our minority status in the space. The owner's confrontational attitude, questioning our integrity and insisting on our departure, was both humiliating and unwarranted, especially considering the place was not busy. This experience has highlighted a stark lack of respect and inclusivity, leading me to question the establishment's commitment to fostering a welcoming community space. It's with a heavy heart that I say I cannot support a business that treats its patrons in such a manner, and I will encourage my circles to seek out more welcoming...
