Tried for the 1st time yesterday based off of the reviews and for other reasons! Horrible customer service!!! From the time I entered until I had to come back from the atm (cash only). No hello, welcome or thank you! Heck I even said thank you lol! What The girls were talking about was definitely not work related and laughing! But I will not add their conversation! It's a restaurant, someone's livelihood establishment not the streets or stoop!!! Act like it and act like you appreciate your job and the customers paying your salary!! I didn't know condiments didn't come with the meal at all. Kid size portion for to go flounder fish sandwich. The thin pieces of bread that was wrapped separately was hard by the time we even tried to make a sandwich lol! So we just ate it as a fish plate lol!! But to be honest from history of the pictures on the wall, the employees should treat this establishment and the customers as it displays (iconic).. Give that experience!! We wanted to try due to it being Black Owned and to support but definitely was a huge disappointment!! I will say the fish was pretty good. It wasn't horrible but isn't worth trying again. This is my opinion of...
Read moreMy family lives in the area and I've been stopping by every time I visit since I was about 9 years old. The latest time, the food was a bit of a let down. I ordered shrimp and whiting for breakfast. The whiting was fried hard and very greasy. The shrimp was better prepared, but the taste wasn't what I was used to. I live by a fried fish place in Atlanta, a completely land locked city hundreds of miles from any coast vs Georgetown, a city by the sea. There was minimal flavor difference.
After visiting for nearly 20 years though, I'm willing to chalk it up as one bad visit before completely writing them off as "it USED to be good". We'll see what it like the next time I visit in a few months.
Current visit would be 3 stars but I'm giving them 4 for all the reviews I never wrote in the...
Read moreWOW! WOW! WOW! Today was my first time at Lamar's Fish and Chips, and boy, am I glad we found it! My friend and I wanted some seafood today, so we looked on Google maps, and saw Lamar's. We decided to try it, and I'm a happy man. We gat there just as they were closing, but Earl, the owner welcomed us in, and fed us. The food was delicious! The ladies were very gracious, and service was quick, and extremely friendly! This will be my go to spot whenever I'm in the area. Earl came out and gave me a little bit of the history of Lamar's, and let me tell you, he is a very friendly man! Thank you, Earl, and your wonderful staff for a wonderful dining experience! Lamar's will be highly...
