Yes, it’s attached to a BP. But get over it — because this plain, unassuming taqueria crammed in the left-hand side of a gas station, is serving up exquisite, authentic Mexican fare.
Clyde ordered the regular chicken taco platter. He received three soft corn tortillas topped with diced grilled chicken, chopped onions, and mountains of fresh cilantro. For less than ten bucks, these were better than the so-called “street tacos” on any number of menus in uppity Midtown Atlanta eateries.
I ordered the chicken burrito: a fat, flavorful flour tortilla package stuffed with rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, and grilled chicken. A pleasant surprise: the side items included a roasted poblano pepper and a grilled white onion.
The only disappointment was our nacho platter, where the tasty house-fried chips were drowned in typical gas station-style cheese-colored sauce and canned jalapeños. So, skip these — and, instead, carry the tiny complementary basket of chips back to the salsa bar and load those up with fresh salsa, peppers, and lime.
This place is just south of Newnan, but it feels south of the border. Order up, tip well, and enjoy some simple, honest, excellent Mexican fare....
Read moreGot the burrito red sauce is like soup & barely there hardly sour cream tomato and lettuce no jalapeño no onion as pictured I asked about getting the radishes and pickled carrots they handed me a small ramiken that held 4 radish slices said only one container. When you spend that much on flavorless food you should be able to get the veggies on the side of your container. Very rude. Will not go back. The red soup that they claimed was sauce is better out of a can. So I paid 13.00 for a horrible burrito sauce (soup) that was tasteless. I see reviews where they say the prices are good.... that's a lie. You can go to Chylacas for much better food, much better food and good prices. I do not understand how they are still in business at all. I use to go regularly years ago (over 3) and the food got WORSE!! Shows me for giving...
Read moreUhgg, I hate to give this place a 3 star but since the owner is never around anymore these past couple years the quality has gone down hill. It was great before always getting 5 stars from me, but know it seams the workers don't care anymore. I visited again yesterday and the presentation and quality just wasn't there. The quesadilla was barely cooked, it was just laying in the tray with no extras like the shredded lettuce and tomatoes. The tacos where soggy on the bottom and fell apart. I just get more disappointed every time I visit. I know the owner is working full time at his wife's business nowadays but I sure wish he would get his restaurant back...
