Hickory Hut — Restaurant in Georgia

This has always been my favorite place to get the best sweet tea, a chili cheese burger and steak fries. Excitedly stopped today and when my order came up. I asked worker telling me could he just put ketchup on fries, because now they have a tiny area with packs, which was suggested. The fries was hard, no salt, no ketchup anymore, no friendly people or have a nice day. I was soooo upset because the older gentleman behind me got a salad with a cup of thousand island, yet napkins are on table, but a customer of almost 50 yrs could not have the one preparing my food, put ketchup on my fries or offer me a cup of ketchup. Yes, the fries are large and it would take me 4-5 tiny packs per French fry. I guess the COVID pandemic has knocked out common sense if you can prepare my food to tray then wth is it so hard to ask you to squirt ketchup on my French fries. Im not exactly sure why people are giving the BBQ 5 stars here. But I can tell you, after eating and smoking bbq for many years, I'm being nice by saying it was fair. Honestly I've had better bbg from a grocery store. The pulled pork barley had a smoked flavor , not sure what kind of bag sauce that was , but it was horrible. Thick ketchup based. And it was poured over the q real heavy. I guess to make the bbq seem more flavorful .The coleslaw was ok but again I've had better from a grocery store. Now the Brunswick stew had a good flavor but it wasn't Brunswick stew. It was someone trying to make Brunswick stew but made something else instead.. but did taste good. I really really wanted to like this place. I love non chain small bbq joints.I've heard word of mouth that ppl love it and those kind of reviews go a long way with me. right before i went I read a review describing the bbq sauce as ketchupy. Thats exactly what it was, tasted like doctored up ketchup. also the pork didn't have a smoky enough flavor for me, which I don't understand as you can smell the hickory in their smoker. I can't bring myself to give the place less than three stars because it's so popular, and hey this review is only MY opinion, so don't let it scare you away, give it a shot.
