This is an already popular restaurant judging by the crowded parking lot and the usual line of people waiting out front that I've noticed every time I have pass by since its opening. But it's new and the initial popularity is because of that reason ...it's new.. and folks do swarm ANY halfway decent looking new restaurant when it opens around here. But if you're reading reviews then you're likely not one of those people and you want to see first what people have to say about the food service etc etc.. I know for some they will come to visit because there is a full-service bar and.. hold on to your hats!! There's even a wine list! In downtown Dallas, Georgia there is a restaurant with a wine list if you can believe it.. Personally I don't care because I don't drink wine (..or any alcohol as a personal choice) and a wine list is usually just an irritating piece of table fodder. But just saying. Anyways.. Service was good almost above average even but post covid that doesn't say alot does it?.. well it was real good. As far as atmosphere all of the pictures already posted show the interior and aside from a small back and side porch that's pretty much the seating. The menu has mostly hand food where they're making obvious attempts to take their conservative menu of mainly salads, burgers, chicken fingers, fries and sandwiches to a "next level". .. Although I must say making a Reuben sandwich with grouper?.. sounds unappealing ... Then to call it a Greuben just sounds wrong and an insult to Reuben sandwiches everywhere! đ
We started with the fried green tomatoes for our appetizer and WoW.. the batter was perfect layered and fried, didn't fall off the tomato when cut into. The green tomatoes themselves may have been too firm for some but just the way we like them. But the feta aoli almost stoled the green tomato show.. my wife even requested more to use as a dip for her chicken!. Their in house sauces served with their chicken tenders is for somebody else not either of us.. sweet, balsamic, zing, blah blah.. yeah, no thank you. My wife's chicken tenders and regular fries were good. I ordered black truffle fries with my double patty melt and felt there was an excessive amount of black truffle added to the fries... The melt on the other hand was fantastic tasting.. hot, buttery, cheesy, ground steak patties were cooked medium rare (as I requested) and I killed it.
Unfortunately, Saturday night, Sunday morning and until Tuesday actually it had me so sick it felt like it was trying to kill me! Yes, I ordered it medium rare and yes it tasted good then and I ate it..so I'm not saying if ordered yours will make you sick.. and I willfully share any blame.. but it obviously it was cooked more on the rare side than the medium rare side. So, while I'm in no hurry, we may go back some time in the future and if you're looking for this type of food and restaurant by all means try it for yourselves!.. because there's nothing highly objectionable and their effort alone in bringing something a little different to town deserves customers to stop and give them a try. And hey.. they'll get more practice cooking patty melts before I return for my...

For downtown Dallas, GA, it's an up-class Americana place: the menu is burgers, fries, salads, sandwiches, tacos, etc.
The food is well done. They have numerous gluten-free options, and they're careful and particular about not mixing gluten-free and gluten foods. Grateful for their particular care. Portion size is fairly large; we ate there for a late lunch, and I didn't eat the rest of the day. I recommend the Frisco burger; it was delicious, good-sized. Sweet potato fries were great, too.
Service is gracious and kind; our server was very on top of keeping our drinks filled, answering questions, and doing it all with a kind attitude.
Atmosphere is cool, overall. The building itself clearly used to be some kind of workshop or garage or something, and they've kept enough of that old style and mixed it with a hefty overhaul featuring light, wood, and black trim. The dining room is one big box room lined with booths on one side, a bar on the other, and tables in between. Can be a bit loud, but normal for a restaurant. We went at 2 in the afternoon, and it was still half full, so I imagine you'll expect to wait if you come at peak times. Sign of something good going on here, right?
Kids get a menu with a maze and a drawing their can color; they get a three-pack of crayons. Nice touch.
Bathrooms are two single-seaters for the whole restaurant, so you might need to wait a moment if you have to go. I didn't see any baby-changing stations, but there is room on the bathroom counter.
Prices are a bit high but fair. With a non-alcoholic drink, you're looking at about $20/person before tip. It was the two of us and a child, and our bill was $55 plus tip.
They're very accommodating to groups, and they can move their tables together easily to accommodate different sizes. Worth considering if you have a group outing.
All in all a good deal, especially for Downtown Dallas, which could use some upscaling. Worth supporting this business if you like good food, want to help local Dallas, and just generally want an enjoyable time. I wasn't blown away, but I was impressed and pleased. Will probably frequent again. Menu has just the right mix of things you want to try and regular things you'll want to stick to. They do have specials that...
Read moreDowntown Eats fills a much-needed void in downtown Dallas, offering a fresh dining experience in a bustling location. It was clear from the crowd on a Thursday evening that this spot has quickly gained traction. My husband and I opted to sit at the bar, and as we settled in, we immediately noticed the large TV screen above us and another in the waiting area. While we understand the appeal for some, we both agreed that the presence of these screens detracted from the atmosphere. In a place where you want to enjoy good conversation, it felt a bit distracting. We couldnât help but wish there were no TVs at allâjust a little more focus on the dining experience.
Service: Our bartenders were friendly and attentive, managing the busy bar with smiles. As business owners and having both worked in restaurants in the past, we noted that the flow behind the bar could use some tightening up. It was a little disjointed at times, but nothing that canât be smoothed out with experience. That said, the staff was clearly hustling, and their positive attitudes made up for any hiccups.
Food: The menu offers a mix of classic comfort food and modern twists, and our choices were solid. My husband went for the Burger, which he ordered medium-rare, but it arrived well-done. He still enjoyed it, but it was a little off from his preference. On the other hand, my Salmon BLT on a gluten-free bun was fantastic. The fish was perfectly cooked, flaky and tender, and the sandwich was well-balanced in flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was, and Iâll definitely be back for that.
Drinks and Value: The drink prices were reasonable, with a nice selection of options that wonât break the bank. Both the food and drinks offered good value for the quality providedânothing too extravagant, but a solid choice for an enjoyable night out.
Final Thoughts: Overall, we had a positive experience at Downtown Eats. While there are a few areas that could use improvement, such as the TV presence and fine-tuning the service flow, the food was enjoyable and the vibe is certainly one we would revisit. Given the location and reasonable prices, weâre happy to support this spot as it finds its footing. Weâll be back, and hopefully, with even more refined service and an even better...
