Pretty good, depending on what you get. The sushi is excellent - a definite 5 star type item with a HUGE variety of types & styles to meet anyone's taste & palate, cooked & raw varieties of every style. The eel sauce ( which does NOT contain eels, for those who don't know) was sweet & savory. I got the shrimp fried rice, which was somewhere between 3 & 4 stars. My wife got the hibachi stir-fried filet mignon, which was tender & good (4 to 5 star). The atmosphere is warm & cozy- very nice decor - and the staff was wonderful, though the table was a bit sticky and our waitress seemed a bit new to the game - but she was attentive despite spilling a little soup at both our table and another customer's table. I'm sure she'll get better. 😄 The restaurant was clean enough, but seemed a bit borderline. The hallway to the restrooms was cluttered with boxes of stock, and the men's room again a bit borderline; however, it was late afternoon so they probably hadn't had a chance to clean. It was okay, though, and Iblame any mess there on sloppy customers - not the staff. A real gem hidden in plain sight, I would definitely recommend this place for a taste of some authentic Japanese style cusine - and again, I cannot overstate the excellence of their sushi and hibachi dishes. Every time we've eaten there the food has been wonderful and portions generous and well priced. Highly recommended for those with a taste for some very excellent Japanese style cuisine. DO NOT EAT HERE!! My boyfriend and I came in for lunch today and, on top of the server being unattentive, dismissive, and unwelcoming, the food was awful. The sushi we ordered (the Philly rolls and the spicy tuna rolls) did not taste good— the tuna was undoubtedly not fresh and a frightening shade of brown (pictured) (raw tuna is generally a pinkish reddish color), and when my boyfriend bit into one of the Philly rolls, he spat out a hard ball of I-don’t-know what (pictured). When I explained the situation to our server and asked for it to be taken off of our bill (which I’ve never done before) she took the plate and walked to the back without saying a word, and she didn’t come out for another 20 minutes to drop off the check. Additionally, the sushi chef wasn’t wearing a mask (I’m not crazy about masks personally, however people that prepare and serve food RAW should be expected to take this extra precaution). After reading some of the other reviews I’ve noticed that others have had similar experiences with finding foreign objects in their food, and for that reason I contacted the Augusta health department to file a complaint. My boyfriend and I both have upset stomachs now. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

I used to frequent this place a lot when I was younger and it was a favorite spot for my family. However, this most recent experience was a little disappointing. We arrive and were seated promptly. Server gets our drink order. Both sodas are flat. So we order sweet tea. We order our appetizers and meals. We both order the filet mignon and shrimp entree, an order of gyoza and vegetable tempura The vegetable tempura was soggy and soft. Did not have the crunch outside I was hoping for. The gyoza was delicious- no complaints there The soup and salad that comes out was great but the ginger dressing tasted a bit off. Unsure how to word it- it was weirdly sweet The filet mignon and shrimp entree was okay but it, also, just did not taste as good as i remember Server was prompt with refills and was super helpful. Atmosphere is nice and calm and not overstimulating I will most likely come back again and give it another go as maybe it was a bad day

I've never felt so disrespected in my life. I came here to get sushi like I have so many times before, and never had a problem with these people. However, today I was on my way to work and placed an order for pick up. I paid with two different forms of payment. They told me my card had given them $9.00 and I owed 0.34 cents, but actually my card had only given them 0.34 cents and I owed them $9.00. THE WAITER read the receipt wrong TO ME. However, Kyoto's didnt realize this until later. So then they found out where I worked and called my work to tell me that MY CARD had messed up, however it was his fault for not reading the receipt correctly. Anyway, I told them I could come back and pay the amount (despite THEIR mess up) when I got off of work at 10:00. So, 9:40 comes around and they call my work FOUR TIMES while we are in a rush and my coworkers had to tell them that I was busy and couldnt speak to them at the moment. So what Kyoto's decides to do is call the police on me. The cop called my work and said that as long as I paid the NINE DOLLARS(!!!!), Kyoto's wouldnt press charges on me. Kyoto's made me look bad in front of my coworkers and totally offended me and my integrity. Again, they called the cops on me over 9 DOLLARS. So I tell the cop my story, he tells me to come to Kyotos when I can, and I'm forced to leave MY job early because KYOTOS didn't do their job correctly. To say the least, I will never come back to this place and I dont recommend it to anyone else, You can get good food for less money and less drama...

Service has steadily gone down over past 6 months and we have been customers for over 5 years. Manager was notified (thought maybe owners, management or cooks changed) & she shrugged her shoulders & said to send the meat back in the future & also stated they were now using very little eggs and only sesame seed in the fried rice. The sirloin steak did not taste like sirloin & has consistently been over cooked and tough (even when ordering medium rare). The fried rice has not had any eggs at all past few visits, more like white rice with soy sauce added. After having to ask for a small bowl for white sauce, we were given a small to go container versus normal plastic holders. I thought maybe the normal holders were all dirty, but they were only 4 other tables occupied. There was also a bewildered looking gentlemen strolling tables in the restaurant that kept disturbing other customers (actually sitting at the tables with them, disturbing their meals) asking if they could hire him to work at their jobs especially if the job was located near bars. Prices have increased while service, quality of food & atmosphere have decreased. This has been after 5pm in the evenings, maybe lunch is better? (see...
