I’m from Covington so I have been visiting this Mamies since I was in high school.. literally over 10 years.. since they were in the little building across the street. It pains me to write this review but I am so disgusted with my experience this morning. This morning at 8:40 I called ahead and ordered a Turkey Sausage and egg plate with an extra egg and 2 pancakes on the side with an orange juice. I picked my food up and paid almost $18 in total. The food looked amazing as always. When I got to work and started eating my eggs I pulled a long back hair out of my mouth. I am a black woman with short curly locs so I knew immediately that it wasn’t my hair. I called back up to the store and spoke to the manager named BRENDA. Brenda immediately began to argue with me that there is no way I found a hair in my food because she made my plate herself. After going back and forth with her trying to convince her that I did find a hair and no it was not mine finally I offered to bring the plate back to the store to show her that there was a hair in my food. She insisted that she didn’t want me to bring my food back but still did not offer any resolution. She actually said “I don’t know what I’m supposed to do for you” so I asked if I could just pick up something else. She said “Sure, what do you want?” with a clear attitude and I told her I would come by tomorrow to pick up a biscuit as replacement. After thinking about it.. I won’t be going back. I’ve been eating at Mamies long enough to know I received unfair customer service today. I have always been treated with respect and always had good customer service… until today. I didn’t even ask for my money back as I should've when she gave me attitude. I just wanted my food remade. But after thinking about it.. I’m a loyal customer and also 6 months pregnant and If she couldn’t even give me good customer service after being a customer as long as I have there’s no way I would trust her to make my food again. I’m sad to say Brenda has caused Mamie’s to lose a very...
Read moreMamie's Kitchen was very good! I absolutely loved the taste of everything I tried. Their sausage gravy was phenomenal. Their biscuits is what they're known for, and there a huge success there. I was very impressed with my biscuit, and that right there should earn them a 5. Their chicken is incredibly crunchy and fried just right. I devoured that piece with so much joy! :) I didn't try their hash browns, but I'm sure they would be just as good. I loved they made my eggs over hard just right. They weren't burnt or yolk filled! I appreciate that because I won't eat runny yolk, and sometimes people don't get it when we say over hard. I hate sending eggs back, but people ought to learn. Well, Mamie's knew, and they're eggs were perfect, meaning they didn't over cook them either. They had Texas Pete and Tabasco peppers which made my experience better. Their cheese grits were heavenly, soft and tasty. I was delighted!!! The sausage has a mild kink to it, and it was great! The regular grits have a little salt to them, not buttery, so you may have to add some and some pepper unless you want to add syrup to make them sweet, which they have. I didn't try their coffee but wish I had. Their sweet tea was very good, standard good Southern Sweet Tea. I would have given them a five except I don't like that on the diner side, they can't serve with regular white plates that aren't styrofoam or plastic. I appreciated they had stainless steel utensils, but it would be amazing to serve food on ceramic plates for those dining in, to make the experience even more amazing and a total 5! But the food alone is a five to me and very well deserved for breakfast Southern choice! Coming from a Texan Southerner, thumbs up!! I would like to try more of their choices soon. I'm only here for a...
Read moreMy friends and I stopped by Mamie's Kitchen Biscuits one Saturday morning on a whim as we were making our way to The Mill nearby for a wedding. We were just in time for breakfast, there was a good long line for the take-out window, and we headed inside where we found plenty of folks enjoying their food.
Not knowing what to expect (and being from Atlanta where you don't usually find this kind of casual breakfast dining outside of Waffle House), we were delighted with our visit! The staff is super friendly. I heard just about every guest called Honey or Baby or Miss Lady or Sugarboo. Everyone who walks inside this restaurant is family, and family gets treated and fed like family.
The portions here were spot on. I was surprised when they didn't hold back on the scrambled eggs. The biscuits here are excellent. High and fluffy. The main offering is different kinds of biscuits (egg biscuit, sausage gravy biscuit, etc.), but you can also order things a la carte (hashbrowns, eggs cooked to order, etc.).
I went out of my way to visit Mamie's Kitchen Biscuits a second time. The second time, I brought my husband, and we both absolutely loved it.
The food is good. The service is great. If you're in the area and need a fast and filling breakfast, this is your place. The atmosphere is ultra casual and nothing special. Food is served on styrofoam plates and the booth seats indoors are cracked and need repair, but I couldn't help but chalk it up...
