I don't know why I keep going to this place. The food is average at best. I think it is a convenience thing. I have probably purchased food here about a dozen times over the 13 years I have lived in Paulding county. I have mostly done take out on Saturday afternoons. We don't have a ton of money and therefore don't eat out often. Tonight we decided to eat out. We didn't feel like dealing with Saturday night crowds in Hiram so my wife and 3 small children stayed close to home and went to Merle's. We paid over $40 for 2 adults and 3 girls under the age of 12. My complaint isn't so much with the food as with the staff. They always seem completely annoyed to have to deal with you. No one smiles. No one says thanks for eating at Merle's. Everyone behind the counter seems to be a teenager who would much rather be somewhere else with a 25 year old in charge. This has happened EVERY time I have patronized this place and I always swear I am never going back. This was the final straw. I'm done. If the food was amazing maybe it would be worth being treated like dirt. If Sonny's was still around it would blow the doors off this place ....and Sonny's was nothing to write home about. Tonight the service was downright rude. Other reviewers can rave all they want about this place always being packed. I've never seen it packed. My pork plate was served room temp with way too much sauce already on it.The sauce is way too sweet and I wasn't given the opportunity to add it to my taste. If I had it to do over again tonight I would have gone to Subway's instead. I DO NOT recommend this place and it is mostly based on the ungrateful rude staff. I am all about supporting local businesses but this one can go away as far as I care. They...
Read moreMy first time there. I placed my order with a young lady at the counter. I ordered the chopped pork plate with sweet tea. The young lady was not rude per se, but there were no hellos nor thank yous given by her. The ladies working the counter seemed overwhelmed by the number of customers (I would say probably three men ordering for their families). They were hollering out numbers and directives at each other. Anyway, when I received my order, I went and sat at a table. I am being careful not to exaggerate: The amount of pork on my plate wasn't enough to make a skimpy sandwich - I would say 3 ounces was given to me. The "stew" was in a very small styro-foam take-out container like one would use for a sauce or something like that. I received 9 cold crinkle-cut french fries. I had an ice tea that contained about 3% tea - that was poured in hot and melted the small amount of ice. I don't understand how this place could stay in business all these years - I assume they once were good and in an area without many restaurants. For nearly $14 for this order, I can't justify the prices nor the amounts of food given. Seriously, a 4 or 5 year old child would have eaten this amount of food. As a grown man who paid nearly $14 for this sub-par food, I can easily state that I will not make the mistake of stopping here again. I understand that sometimes people are mad about a certain restaurant and sometimes over-complain about their experience. I purposely waited until the day after to post this critique. Everything I've stated is factual and not...
Read moreNEVER AGAIN!!!! Lived in Paulding my entire life and have been going here since they have opened.
I just experienced the absolute worst customer service I have ever had in my entire life. Ordered a pick up order online… Rib sandwich, onion rings, sweet tea, and a salad which was $29.
Here is the problem, my son brings it home and I bite into the sandwich or tried. Literally I could not take a bite due to the hardness and it being overcooked. I received fries not onion rings which was cold. I also did not receive the sweet tea.
My wife called and spoke to SHAYLEE which I have no idea why a business would have her representing them. My wife explained the situation and here was SHAYLEE’S response.
That was my bad, I overcooked the sandwich, we are out of onion rings and just assumed fries would be fine, and just forgot about the sweet tea.
My wife politely said, can we come back and substitute a cheeseburger or bbq sandwich which is $5 cheaper then get brunswick stew for the side. She literally said nope, I can make you another rib sandwich and you can not have stew, I gave you fries. Here’s the kicker, Shaylee said you can come pick up your sandwich in 45 minutes and that’s the best I can do. This is after we requested a manager or owner.
I NEVER POST BAD REVIEWS BUT I PROMISE YOU THIS IS THE LAST TIME I WILL EVER GO THERE AND NOW I WILL MAKE ITA POINT TO MET EVERYONE I KNOW...
