Sustainable, local, woman-owned and community focused coffee shop with the BEST flavors in town.
My husband took me here for the first time today and now I understand why he goes there at least twice a week.
The drive-thru was super quick and the server happily explained all the pastries they had available from Kiki’s. The menu was reasonably priced and I ended up choosing the raspberry chocolate scone as almond coconut mocha. Molly’s offer to heat up our pastries which was a nice touch and melted my chocolate chunks into perfect oozing bits.
WOW!!! The raspberry and chocolate scone was better than what I could make myself at home and the almond coconut mocha is to die for! Every sip is a perfect combination of nutty and sweet with a hint of coffee that adds a depth to the flavor. It’s not too sweet and can compliment a pastry but can still hit that need for some energy in the morning.
In addition, I’m impressed with how all of their items are recyclable or compostable. Their commitment to sustainably is admirable and a huge selling point for me personally. Their coffee is roasted locally in town by 1000 Faces and their chocolate for their mochas are sourced through Condor Chocolate.
Another aspect I noticed is that they feature a local artist on the weekends! They had one outside in the front during this beautiful Sunday morning. I love that thy support their community and give back in this way.
Molly’s Coffee Company is one I’ll happily support throughout my time here in Athens and I’m so glad to...
Read moreStopped into Molly's Coffee Co this morning for some caffeinated goodies. This joint comes highly recommend by my father in law. There might be a little bias options here since this joint is owned by his really good friend's granddaughter. But the fact it's local, I'm going to support it.
Walking up, the espresso machine and register was set up outside. There's some remodeling going on so I didn't get the opportunity to see what the venue looks like inside. But outside is quite cute. I love the flowers surrounding the outside patio.
A handful of sweet baristas were working. They all greeted us! I checked out the summer menu to see what kind of cool drinks they had. I got a vanilla oat milk matcha latte. My husband got a summer drink of the menu. It was a sparkling strawberry lemonade.
My husband's lemonade was so good! I appreciate that real strawberry puree was used. It was sweet, tangy and bubbly! It was quite refreshing for a sweet drink. My matcha was balanced! There was a good amount of matcha to oat milk. I didn't quite taste the vanilla as much as I would have liked to. I did add some sugar to it when we stopped at the Waffle House. It tasted much better once the sugar was added.
I'm already going to plan on coming back when we visit Athens again next year. I look forward to seeing the new remodel. And I look forward to potentially meeting the famous Molly that my father in law speaks ok. I enjoyed my matcha and it's great that I got to support a local joint...
Read moreMolly’s has quickly become one of my favorite coffee shops in the Athens area! I’m a big fan of their espresso drinks, which have a nice smoothness to them (often reminding me of Two Stories, RIP). Their handmade syrups, pastries, and croissants are delicious! I also really admire them for their environmental consciousness and strict adherence to COVID precautions. It has been an absolute joy to come in the store by appointment as well. It is one of the few public spaces that I’ve felt comfortable in during the pandemic, and that is largely due to the diligence of all the staff (checking temperatures before entering, max of 3 groups of 2 people for indoor seating at one time, built in time for thorough disinfecting, strict mask use indoors). Also the whole staff is super friendly and down to earth. It always brightens my day to have conversations with the baristas at Molly’s. They also keep doggy treats for the drive through. Come by and discover this hidden gem of a...
