I took my daughter to Rita’s today on Wilmington island today after a tough day at school because it’s usually her favorite treat. We go there a few times a week and she always orders the same thing a mango and piña colada five-layer gelati, while I get vanilla. When she picked up our order, she noticed hers didn’t look right and politely asked which one was which. Instead of answering, a woman named Jess (who said she was the owner) immediately got defensive, told her she hadn’t ordered mango, and started arguing with her. My daughter stayed respectful, but Jess claimed she had “checked the cameras” and the recording proved my daughter was wrong. When my daughter asked to hear the recording, Jess refused. The whole exchange upset her so much that she walked away in tears. I stepped in and asked if we could just get the mango piña colada like my daughter always gets. Jess refused to remake it, said she would only refund me, and when I explained that I didn’t want a refund I just wanted the right order she told me she didn’t care. Her exact words were that she owned the place and it didn’t matter if we came back. That level of arrogance and disrespect, especially toward a child, is unacceptable. Something as simple as ice cream should not end with a kid in tears. We won’t be going back, and I’ll be making sure others know how unprofessional and rude this...
Read moreFirst let me state that we moved to the Savannah area from northern Virginia. In our old area there were Rita's Ice in many, many places and this is the only Rita's we've found in thus area. The ices were very good. The staff however were young and more into their conversations than customers. Also we were looking forward to enjoying our ices sitting at one of the provided benches, under the cover of a shady umbrella, cooling off after a long day on the beach. The tiny area for parking was just that, Tiny. The benches, mind you, all of what looked t be maybe 3 or 4 were already occupied and so we ended up eating our treats in our car watching the mini golf on the other side of the road. So rated only 3 for those very minor inconveniences and the ices...
Read moreSo disappointed in my visit here. We drove over 20 minutes because we love Rita's, and ended up just going back home. The staff are just inches from the customers taking orders and none of them are wearing masks or gloves. There were dozens of people in line, all without masks, standing practically on top of each other. The owners need to place some separation markers to keep people spread out in line and implement one family on the ordering deck at a time, and while I know you can't control others, it's really a no brainer that staff need to be wearing masks. I'm really sad that they are being so...
