Our Hampton Inn didn't have a restaurant, so looking for a place to eat on New Years Day was a challenge. We opted for the Shore Restaurant at the Marriott right up the street. My wife had the beet/peach salad, which came out with canned peaches and beets, which made it just average. My Smashburger was decent bar food, and my salad option was huge. No complaints there.
The complaints center on our Fried Brussels Sprouts appetizer. They looked fantastic in the basket but clearly undercooked in the center. Even a fork provided a challenge to cut these things in half. We hardly ate any of it.
Our server never checked on us during our meal, so when she came to clear off our plates, we brought the issue with the Brussels Sprouts to her attention, and she apologized. But sure enough, the $13 was still on our check.
Still filled with holiday cheer, I didn't make a scene. I left a marginal tip and departed knowing we will never consider the Marriott as a hotel or dining...
Read moreMy wife and I have stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn 6 times. Before this recent stay we would never eat dinner at the Shore restaurant because the quality of the food was not to our liking. Well all of that has changed now that they have a new Executive Chef. Chef Clay has turned things around. His new menu is filled with dishes that have plenty of flavors. So good that we ate dinner here twice in 5 days. We have tried the Fried Chicken, Vegetable Curry with Blackened Chicken, Short Rib Pasta and the Burger. The portions are large and the quality and flavors are spot on. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant for dinner now that Chef Clay is leading the team. They also have a happy hour Monday- Friday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. A different drink special every day along with 5 appetizer specials. We tried Chef Clay’s take on Fried Green Tomatoes. So good we ordered them again...
Read moreExcellent service from friendly servers. The food was very good. We had a buttermilk fried shrimp poboy and the bbq ribs special with tender meat that fell off the bone. The bartender did not stint on the alcohol for my husband’s cocktail and also made me a yummy virgin piña colada. The outdoor portion of the restaurant was dog-friendly and servers were very nice to our dog. It was a relaxing atmosphere with a lovely view of the dunes and the sea beyond. They also went above and beyond when I accidentally left my credit card behind: I had texted the restaurant earlier via Google chat to ask about whether they allowed dogs. They recognized my name from the card and that previous chat and so were able to text me to let me know about my card. Overall a great experience and I would highly...
