We had a wonderful dinner at 80 Ocean. The gluten-free menu is excellent, and they’re very accommodating—happy to modify dishes if needed. I had a side salad and the redfish, which came with creamed corn and mushrooms. Everything was flavorful and beautifully prepared. We also shared the gluten-free meatballs and GF rolls—both were fantastic! My husband ordered the crab cakes (not gluten-free) and the cream cheese mashed potatoes, which he really enjoyed. The ambiance was lovely, especially with the outdoor seating near the pool area we were just inside the doors in a small nook that was quaint. A special shoutout to the kind young man opening the front door—he was a delight. We ended up having a great conversation with him while waiting for our hotel shuttle, and it meant a lot, especially since he was working on the 4th of July. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and dietary needs, though he seemed a bit rushed and not overly friendly. It was a busy holiday, so we completely understand and appreciate the service regardless. Highly recommend 80 Ocean for a relaxing and accommodating dining experience on Jekyll Island.

We ate here for 5 days. Breakfast / brunch menu every morning and dinner one time. The staff were always very friendly and incredibly helpful in helping my wife modify dishes to accomodate a number of food sensitivities she has. The kitchen was phenomenal throughout our stay. Portions for breakfast and brunch seemed to be reasonable. I read another comment about them skimping on smoked salmon, but that didn't feel like our experience. We eat smoked salmon regularly at home (it is expensive) and we ordered it every day at eighty ocean. I felt like the portion size was always reasonable and, on a few occasions, generous. We did have dinner here one time and did not do so again because the dinner portion size was very small. I'll echo other travelers in that we explored other dining options after our first night here. There are good options in Brunswick and Saint Simon that provide better value and taste for the money spent. Still, I want to praise the staff and kitchen for their kindness every morning with our breakfast, finding food options to navigate allergens, and the good food. Thank you!

TLDR; have drinks here, but go to Reid's Apothecary for brunch. I love the ambiance of this restaurant and the cocktails (5⭐) are always amazing. Our beautiful server (Jody-Kay) was friendly and attentive. She checked on us repeatedly. The new brunch menu is really disappointing, though. The old menu was interesting with fantastic loaded grits, a cathead biscuit sandwich, chicken and waffles, or french toast. From the boring new menu, I opted for the avocado toast with salmon. It was pricey for what I got. The thinly spread avocado on my one slice of toast was under seasoned and looked old, like the avocado had been smashed earlier in the day and allowed to turn brown. The extra $8 for two thin slices of salmon was excessive. Reid's Apothecary is similar in price but with much better portions and food quality. Folks also should be told that the sparkling water is $8 per bottle, but it was better than trying to drink the marsh-flavored tap water.

My complaint is two-fold. My husband and I were there in January 2019 to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. We have been coming to Jekyll for many years and we always stay a few days and try different restaurants. Well we decided to try this new restaurant. The atmosphere was excellent but the food was just okay; but, when the bill arrived it was summarized and we were given a bill for $150 with no breakdown or itemization. All of restaurants in all the states we have been to NEVER did that. We had two ribeyes and potatoes and green beans. I had a tea and my husband had water. We didn't have dessert and didn't drink any alchohol. But the menu didn't say tne cost of the steaks. People, those steaks weren't worth $75 each! But, that isn't my complaint. My husband paid the bill and we left a 20% tip. But after we returned home I sent an email asking why the bill had been summarized, without itemization. A woman, Donna, called me back. And, immediately hurled an insult at me. She said, "Well, you're server said he didn't think you could afford to eat here by the way you were dressed. What! We were dressed like everyone else. Jeans, slacks, shirts amd jackets. Just like everyone else. This woman's idea of conflict resolution is to hurl out insults. I was in management for over 15 years. This woman needs some more training. I did not 'bite', I just reiterated my question. (Why was the bill not itemized.) Anyway she said they had stopped that practice after our complaint. I think they want to present themselves as an ultra snooty environment. They should practice more on customer relationships. We...

The Ocean Club hotel is very nice. Great rooms, location and right in the beach. Unfortunately the only restaurant available does not live up to the same standards.

We made reservations for our first night on Easter Sunday. We ordered some appetizers to start which, for the most part, were good. We ordered the New York strip, Lamb Rack (special), kids chicken fingers and kids cheese pizza. Both kids complained they didn’t like their meal. First time in history that our kids complained about fingers and pizza. The lamb rack was just OK. The New York Strip was sent back. It was fatty, tough and gray on one side. I was baffled. My only guess it that it was frozen and quickly thawed. It was the worst steak I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

We tried to sit down for lunch the next day to find out that they only have a Brunch menu. It was Noon on a Monday and we wanted Lunch. There weren’t a whole lot of options so we left and went to Larry’s Giant Subs which was great!

We tried for breakfast the next day after Sunrise Grill was busy and didn’t have any more tables. We were seated and left after 15 minutes with no one coming by our table to even fill our water glasses. We headed to Tortuga Jacks and seated right away. The breakfast and service was amazing. Definitely worth a 5 minute drive.

The place was packed for Spring break all week and it was apparent that the restaurant and bar were severely understaffed. It’s a shame that there were so...

As a resident of 20 years I finally came across the absolute worst meal I have ever had on this island. Yesterday, I met some off Island of friends and together we decided to try this new restaurant. I have never been one to be shocked over price- that is until yesterday. And by the same token I've never had a meal. That was so horrible that I couldn't eat. So I ordered my $24 piece of fish and five free french fries and when it arrived there was a glimmer of hope because the fish didn't look very large and very edible. That is until I tried to work my way through the battery. That was difficult to say the least because it was extremely thick . Once I got in to where the fish was I found nothing special but passable. I wish you could have seen what I had to leave on the plate. As I looked at the remaining crust of the fish, I conjured up a vision of maybe taking it home I'm using it as a planter for flowers. Anyway, I am not a picky person when it comes to food. As a person with a military pass I have eaten earthworms, grasshoppers, even dried a snake one time. I would be hard-pressed to ever again choose that fish dish over any of the above. Oh yes, and my two friends settled for a $20 grilled cheese sandwich with a half of a handful of salad.. should you choose to eat there, I hope your meal is more satisfied than mine was....
