REVIEW EDIT: Editing my previous 5 star review. We haven’t been back since this incident and don’t plan to unfortunately, we had enjoyed the food and beer at our previous visits. We had ordered chips and salsa and there was a nickel sized shard of glass in the salsa that ended up in my mouth. Luckily I didn’t get cut up or hurt. I notified the bartender, Carson. She was extremely apologetic and took care of our tab for the night - amazing customer service. What bothered me was that kitchen staff was not notified and the shard of glass was thrown away. She went straight back to working the bar. It worries me because I’ve brought my 1 year old here whose just learning to eat real food. He wouldn’t have known to spit the shard out and could have been hurt badly. He eats everything we eat, so this could have been an even worse situation if he would have been with us that night. I will say that the customer service is always stellar, but safety of customers needs to be addressed with all staff, front and back of the house. ******* Before edit I’ll start off by saying this place is exactly what Giddings needed. Fun environment, good beer and awesome staff. Our bartender, Carson, was knowledgeable, friendly and on her game after working 13+ hours every day since they’ve been open. Major props to her. I ordered the El Hefe Hefeweissen beer. It was so good. My husband ordered the winter warmer brown ale and the pecan porter. The pecan porter was sooo good. It had just the right amount of sweetness. We ordered the German pizza. It was delicious! The sauerkraut was pickled perfectly and the beer mustard was the perfect sauce for it. Hit the spot. We also ordered wings with buffalo mild sauce. They were cooked great and the carrots that came with were fresh and the ranch was delicious. 10/10 recommend and WILL be back.

Oh my goodness, I was so very disappointed. Service was slow and we had to flag down servers if we needed anything. I was looking forward to a lovely schnitzel with German sides. Ordered the Zweibel Schnitzel Plate with German noodles and fried cabbage. The food took a long time although the restaurant was not even close to being about ⅓ full. I received an oddly shaped, uneven, breaded and fried piece of pork. My noodles were cold and quite watery and kind of tasteless. The Schnitzel had some good moments, but was mostly dry and a bit crunchy. The fried cabbage was definitely fried and came out swimming in a pool of butter and grease. I think that our food must have sat in the kitchen for a while as my gravy had already begun to form a skin, it was either from a jar or a mix. There was another Schnitzel at the table that looked more uniform than mine and was rated average, their fries were bad though. Probably will not return. Food that we ordered did not live up to the "German Specialties" as labeled on their menu.

passing through Giddings after dropping our kids at camp. We wanted to try something different and we love german food and beer. The beer was good. the Dos Amigos was my Favorite. the pecan Porter was super good though, too. We also had a pretzel with mustard which was really yummy. we ordered the schnitzel with spaetzel and potatoes. The spaetzel was not very traditional. it was slightly spicy, like pepper jack cheese almost. It was good but I wouldn’t consider it to be traditional German. The schnitzel was sooooooooo thin. It’s supposed to be thin but this was mostly just breading. Still had a good flavor. We got the Pepperwurst with Sauerkraut. Both were DELICIOUS. The sauerkraut was out favorite. It’s grilled on the flattop and just unexpectedly delicious. In hubby’s words “not the best german food i’ve ever had but most certainly not the worst.” (that was in Germany 😝) We would come back here for sure.

We are all for supporting locally owned businesses and give lots of grace if they tend to fall short of our expectations. Rarely would I write a negative review, however, our experience unfortunately called for one for our party of 6. Pros: Nice building, clean, lots of televisions for sports, outdoor seating (but TVs were not on), location, good French fries Cons: Waited 30 minutes for drinks, felt invisible to workers during our entire time there (except when it was time for us to pay), our food took so long to come out and no one ever came by to check on us during that time, had to ask for water/drink refills, tables around of were getting their food and leaving well before we got anything, food: schnitzel (small/dry/no flavor), sides for schnitzel were cold and lacked flavor, hamburger orders (meat was burnt and crispy), one patty was so small it looked like a kid burger, pizza (supposed to have multiple meats - one pepperoni per slice), vegies on pizza looked like there were put on after it was cooked (raw and very crispy vegies) and the dough was so chewy and partially raw. They also charge an 18% gratuity on parties of 6 or more which is another reason we feel our service lacked. We do not mind the added gratuity, however, when the service was not worth the gratuity that poses a problem. The waitress was getting a tip no matter what. The restaurant was not overly crowded but I do believe they could have used another server and for sure a new cook. Unfortunately, we will not return due to other times here not being so...

Terrible experience with food and service. We have been coming here off and on since they opened. Have taken some breaks because of negative experiences but we would eventually give them another try. This time was the last try, never again. We waited for at least 30 minutes to just get drinks. Finally took our food order and waited over an hour. Saw people come in, eat and leave while we kept waiting. Finally got the food and not one of the 6 meals was good at all. Who can mess up pizza?? It was doughy and the veggies weren't cooked at all. The burgers were scorched and the schnitzel were so small. Noodles were cold...need i say more. The service was awful. I realized why after we got the bill, they add on 18% gratuity. They used to not do this. Waitress knew she'd be getting her tip regardless so barely acknowledged our existence. Be sure and read the most recent reviews, last 6 months. Lots of bad ones. Really wanted this to be one of our regular go to restaurants but sadly it won't be. Too many past bad experiences outweigh the...
