3 stars for good service, though, hard to hear through the masked wait staff or even feel a smile. What is the point if customers do not need masking for staff to wear them? They do not work anyway, as we have been advised. Plus, they remove their maskes when in the kitchen, as we saw...not to blame them. So why would State of AZ require restaurant staff to wear masks? But we do not penalize the restaurants for that, only their Associstion for not lobbying more diligently. Nevertheless, the *homemade egg rolls(@$2.75 ea)were delish, but pricey...like most things, since the poor supply chain problems and gas price increases which has caused our food and packaging prices to increase. Another plus 2 small cups of their wonton soup, costing extra @$4.50 ea... with what appeared to be homemade wontons; which were delicate and tasted yummy. Strangely, they do not mix veg n meat items into the($9.95) pork egg-foo-young dishes, but place all veg n cut meat on top of the egg/bean sprout mixture/the panfried 0patty...which was not as tasty as other restaurants with same dish offerings we have had experienced for ages. *But they do not use MSG in anything...probably a good thing and the reason. A touch of soy sauce fixed that taste issue and note:(no headaches after eating their food) a happy occurance.
The other dish we tried was almond chicken, also just ok. It had way too much sauce in the dish, scant amount of chicken that had little taste and only a few "sliced" almonds, but good amount of diced water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. (Dinner price per dish$12.95) Even at todays retail food prices...it is unreasonable for only 2 cups of food including 3 smallish patties, (waitstaff said it would be 4)...worth approximately $1.25...yikes! I will buy my own ingredients and make it at home. We may try this Great Wall place again, but continue to search for a "fav go to"...
Read moreThis place had great reviews so I tried it out for dinner tonight. I placed a 92$ order via their website listed on Google at 7:10. At the hour mark, I called them to see where my order was at. It stated it was to be delivered between 25 min and an hour. The restaurant is literally a mile down the street from my house. The lady on the phone at the restaurant basically told me that’s not their website, it’s through a third party. Ok fine. She also tells me that my food has been ready for awhile and that they’ve just been waiting on the driver. So I asked her how I could get ahold of the third party because on their website the only listed is great wall’s phone number. She said she’d contact them and remake my food so it wasn’t cold. I hadn’t heard anything back from her and so I called them back 10 minutes later to find out that the third party company said they’d send out a driver. 8:30 rolls around and I get a call from the restaurant asking if it’s ok if she drop off my food at my home because the third party delivery company isn’t going to send out a driver after all. I tell her, yes that’s fine. My food arrives at 8:56. Everything was awful. The food seemed like it was reheated. No apology was offered by anyone from the restaurant, two hours and 92$ later I’m throwing all the food in the trash. I called them to complain at 9pm how terrible the food was and the wait was awful and I was so disappointed that they’d had such good misleading reviews. I’d like a refund. But I’m sure they won’t be doing anything. I would NOT recommend this place at all. Absolutely terrible service and terrible over priced food. I will be telling everyone, and I hope this deters anyone who wants to try them out based on...
Read moreWell, where and how to start? I've been going here for 25 years or so but recently, I ordered a roast duck with cut; came home there were two small pieces of breast meat left and the rest were bones. So make sure you do some lego when you ordered a roast duck with cut because the pieces were not all there or you may get 2 ducks but mostly bones :((. Second incident, I go there for dimsum very frequently; but today we ordered just a few items as usual. The bill was so much higher than normal, so I called and asked; the receptionist lady was very very well prepared just like a defense lawyer....she gave me like small, medium, large and special and some items were not on the fixed price menu blah blah....well, we all know that they only have one size of dish; so when the cart goes by you point out an item, it's only one size? did anyone see medium or large or blah blah....(NO right?) yes, it's only ONE size. Anyhow, my bill today I'm sure they put over $20 extra. Alright, so she kept going around with small, medium, large and special so it's added up that much, which were correct according to the (defense lawyer=receptionist). Anyways, I recommend to check your bill when you check out because the numbers will surprise you. We go dining out b/c AZ not much todo, as any Chinese food (greasy, salty, MSG) it's very normal. But the number must be clear and items must show size and price...
