Ever since this egg nonsense, can you believe this restaurant is one that wants to charge a $.50 per egg surcharge to its consumers. I went there said I would accept the surcharge. The woman took my name down made me sit down and wait for table even though there were open tables then came back 10 minutes later and asked if we’ve been helped and I told her you literally just took our name down and said you would wipe off a table, so basically age forgot. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with two over medium eggs. I went to cut my eggs open and they were completely white and runny so they didn’t make my eggs correctly. I asked the waitress to have my eggs remade and I shouldn’t be charged the surcharge since the cook messed up the eggs. She turned around and said hold on and of course we waited for five minutes not knowing what was going on. Nobody said anything until seven minutes later, she came back and said that’ll be right up. I was thinking the entire meal since now my biscuits and gravy and potatoes were completely cold and with nasty runny eggs on my plate. The manager comes out with two over medium eggs on a plate by itself and I told her I couldn’t eat the rest of the food because it was completely all over the plate and now it’s completely cold. I want to eat my eggs with the rest of my meal. She said well if I have to give you the whole meal again I’d have to charge you again. Can you believe this ridiculous customer service and poor management? I told her forget it, take off my whole meal and the eggs that you just brought out because that is absolutely insanity that a place cannot do the right thing and make the meal the way that you are paying for especially with paying a surcharge for eggs they should be more than willing to do the right thing. So FYI, we will never be coming back and neither should anyone especially if you want your food made correctly and taken care of if they do mess it up. I understand the cost of eggs are rising, but that should not be something passed on to your consumers. We are all dealing with this increased cost of eggs. Save your money and eat somewhere else that does right by...

I know I’m taking a risk, the BLT as far as I’m concerned is one on the absolute tests of an American restaurant. One of those things that, in their simplicity, test the skill and creativity of best cooks. Done well they are wonderful, a perfect balance of crunch and savory and freshness with the mayo swimming around and marrying everything into a kind of American story in your mouth. Then, if the essentials are nailed down, a good cook can play a little and make it his or her own, put a little spin on it, touch it up a bit.
Man! This area is strange to a traveler. A stranger in a strange land. It all looks the same. It all looks brand new. It all looks prefab. I dug through the reviews hoping to find something with some character, something with heart, something where the BLT would have character and substance. I had surprise luck the day before and hoped I could repeat that luck with Henhouse Cafe on the way to the Airport.
Well lightning doesn’t strike twice I’m afraid, I was underwhelmed. The bread lacked character, it was just barely toasted on the inside, I mean why bother? Barely a singe mark. Not enough to change flavor or affect texture. A few slices of avocado, not enough to cover the bread, not a lot of fixin’s over all. I got the heel of the tomato, the part I usually throw away, but waste not want not. It just tends to squeeze out when you try and bite into the sammy. The whole thing was, a bore. It lacked heart.
The fries on the other hand were perfect and the serving staff were obviously working hard although they never refilled my iced tea, a cardinal sin in my book.
Henhouse Cafe is probably fine for a lot of folks who are not looking something unique or particularly special. It’s a cookie cutter type of place. There are a million places just like it. Clean, busy, reliable, kind of boring, not on my list, but probably where my neighbors eat. They get a solid three...

You are going to want to check this place out! Super friendly front of house, the hostesses are great! The wait staff, while friendly, can be hit or miss. Benjamin must have been having an off day as I rarely saw him on my visit and had to flag him down for things like refills and order corrections.
The food. Intially, I came in for the chilaquiles which is no longer on the menu so I opted for the lunch special burger - Fig Jam & Gorgonzola Burger. I was super excited because those flavors paired with a well cooked burger are fantastic. I ordered my burger medium rare and it came out well done minus the jam. Disappointing. Without the jam the gorgonzola was too overpowering. My fries were room temperature which leads me to believe they sat in the pass for a bit. Once I was able to flag down Ben he said he'd check with the kitchen about the jam. Instead of bringing jam with him when he came to tell me the kitchen would fix the error he left me to sit another ten minutes. He didn't notice I needed a refill and so I had to ask for that once he finally showed up again.
This would have been a one star review had it not been for Chris, the Manager. Chris saw me waiting for Ben to happen by again so I could ask for my check and promptly saw to my needs. Chris asked about my experience and I gave him honest feed back which he appreciated. He checked with the kitchen regarding the errors on my order and came back to tell me lunch was on him! I offered him some more feedback about the burger and promised to give them another shot the next time I'm in the area.
This is why I will always choose the local joint over a chain. Do yourself a favor and go visit Chris and his, mostly,...
